The D-pad is weird. It took me a while to figure it out.

It is not like a nomal dPad. You have to press outside of the circle. If you actually press the dpad to go right and left, it doesn't work.

See, I've heard people say that... then others say theirs works when pressing on the dpad. Personally, mine doesn't work at all. Just really strange.

A lot of people incorrectly think the ring around the enter key is the d-pad. See the attachment for the correct places to press.

Re: What the heck is up with the contacts screen?

The circular button is like pressing the Enter button... or pressing OK. You have to press around that button to use the directional pad. In other words, the directional pad is actually integrated in with the 4 hardware keys, NOT the circular button.

While I happen to prefer the old Mogul button, it's something I'll get used to and it won't stop me from staying on topic here about the contacts screen. So...

If you dpad down to a name and then dpad left/right, it does indeed toggle from "m"obile to "e"mail to "txt" etc. However, it doesn't change the fact that the label isn't properly right aligned on the two-line display and therefore cuts off the second line of display.
