Re: Lets talk about this radio ....
I think this is where he saw the quote: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?p=2861804
The thread doesn't have anyone confirming the results though. Looks like this worked for the Diamond only. Feel free to try if you want to hack a ROM and put it in. |

Re: Lets talk about this radio ....
I didnt post the forum because I was not sure if I was allowed to post links to other forums. But in case anyone wants to check it out I saw it over at smartphonejunkies.com
Oh and I know they got it working on the Diamond, this caught my eye because he is stating that he got it on the TP. So I was wondering if someone with some ROM cooking skills would want to try it. |

You can post links to other forums... I do it all the time.. It helps send people to relevant information instead of making them search the site for it.. And I post links to site outside of PPC Geeks... Until I am not allowed to, I will keep doing it.. I have contacted the owner of phonewreck.com... He is going to do a tear down of the CDMA Touch Pro.. I asked him if he could indicate and find out if the CDMA version has the FM radio hardware installed.. I will make sure to check which carrier-branded version he is doing this on.. He said yes, he will find it for me... So when he finds it, I will let you all know... He should do it in early december... After this, we will all know if the hardware is even installed... If it isnt, no dice... If it is, then its an issue of engaging an interface to run the FM radio... |

Re: Lets talk about this radio ....
The hardware should be there, the fm radio is part of the bluetooth chip. I have been playing with this off and on over the last few weeks and the TP does appear to communicate with this portion of the chip. However, I cannot get it to tune a signal. It is possible this is disabled via the SPL, a DLL, the ti config scripts, or the antenna connection is disabled via jumper. There is a FM test app in the HTC tools pack so it does not appear to be a crippled FM bts or fm dll, though the fact this works on diamond proved this already. So basically, theres hope, but it may take a while.
