-EDIT-
Found it. Page 168-169 in the Manual. From what I read, it will work exactly like MMS, except labled as "Sprint Picture Mail." It will require registration on the Sprint Picture Mail website (if you don't already have an account), but after you've registered once, you'll be able to send MMS messages through Picture Mail...at least, that's my understanding from what I read in the manual.

Ahh... so it may just be an issue of names! I hope it works like True MMS, however. I don't want to have to connect to the interwebs to get a picture.

Thats fine, my girlfriend has a diamond and I send her pics all the time, and they go directly to her phone, no hyperlink. THANKS TO ME!!!

True it does stay on the server but you also mention sending it directly to you. And what i'm saying is that it does send it directly to you. you DO NOT get a link to follow. So being as it sends it directly to your phone, doesn't that make it mms?

The phone is likely doing the work in the background and downloading the pic from the picture mail website. The end result is the same, so its not too big of a deal.

If it requires registration at the Sprint picturemail website, then that sounds exactly like what is going on. True MMS wouldn't require registration as it would work just like the existing SMS system.

This is not true. It requires registration, because sending mms is not free. You have to have picmail on your account. But once you do have pic mail on your account (all it means is that you pay for it, and by having an unlimited data plan you pay for it) after that, like i've said at least 4 times before, it is just like an sms, the pic goes directly to your phone. The only reason you have to register for picmail, is because sprint is doing us a favor, by saving it on the website, even though its already been downloaded to your phone. So by having us register at sprint pic mail is only doing us a favor. If we didn't register you would get the pic on your phone then that would be the end of it. What if you lost your phone or something, sprint has all our pics that we send or receive backed up on sprint pic mail. I really don't understand all of the confusion, is it just because you have to register, is that the only thing from keeping people from calling it mms???

Another thing I thought of is how picture mail shows to non-sprint customers. Given, I don't use picture mail that often, but when I sent one last to my wife's AT&T MMS capable phone, it was a text message with a link.

This might not be the case anymore though as I haven't tried sending a picture mail to a non-sprint customer in a while.

Someone quoted the manual saying registration was required to use the functionality. On other carriers, you don't have to register, because its just like SMS, billing and everything. The fact that registration seems to be compulsory suggests that the MMS on the phone is just intercepting the text messages alerting of a new MMS and downloading it from the site automatically, and to send pic mail it actually goes through the site.

I believe you maybe right, but the way the app works, its like mms because it downloads the pic for you from the website, and when you send a pic mail the app logins into your sprint account and sends it for you also. This is why the pic is always on your phone and on your sprint account.

Re: MMS on Sprint?

Just to throw a little more information about "picture mail" out there, I went on the picturemail website to check it out and see how to register. Tried to register my primary phone (mogul), but it wasn't recognizing my phone number. Sprint CS told me it was because the mogul doesn't support picture mail, but I went to register a couple of phones I just upgraded for my other two lines (one is a Samsung m520) and I noticed that, if you don't have a talk/data/share plan or a unlimited plan that includes picture mail, there's a charge for "vision" (which I didn't think they had anymore).

Anyway, don't know how that affects people with SERO plans (because I'm not too familiar with those), but for me it was completely free...so I didn't mind registering.
