+1 UPS man just dropped off my TP, and my very first impression after unboxing was "this thing is a brick!" To me, it's almost like going back to a Mogul! I still have my Diamond, so after holding each one in hand and comparing size, weight, and pocketablity, the TP is going back tomorrow! I honestly didnt realize how much I really like my Diamond until playing with the TP. I hated the red back of diamond until i seen the cheap chrome look of the TP. My diamond is like a whole new phone to me all of a sudden. Each to his own I guess... |

Have you ever played with the Diamond? If so, I dont think you would have the same impressions. In fact, I just dug out my old Mogul to compare it to the TP, and they are the same size! No wonder it felt like a brick to me! After using a Diamond for the past month, there is just no way I could go back... Again, just IMHO. |

I have mine sitting on top of my Mogul, and it is smaller. I for one like the thickness, stuff gets too thin and its easy to drop or lose.

Re: Im man enough to admit I was wrong
For my needs, the Touch Pro is leaps and bounds ahead of the Diamond. The keyboard on the Touch Pro is excellent. I go through hundreds of emails daily (obviously I don't reply to all of these, but you get the idea), so fast typing is a must for me. The Diamond wasn't all that bad, but having to go back and make corrections, etc. was getting old real fast. I'm now able to type with absolute precision. I'm also not experiencing any delay like others have commented about. I'm using the stock ROM with a few reg tweaks (based on DiamondTweak and others), and to be quite honest this is faster than my Diamond was on any Juicy ROM I've tried. I don't even see any convincing reason for me to go to a custom ROM yet, and frankly I probably won't unless there becomes one.
The Touch Pro is much easier for me to hold, and I actually love its size. It feels 'just right'. The chrome also does not look cheap, so I don't know where you got that from. In any event, the Touch Pro is -truly- only .13 inches bigger than the Diamond. Just look at Sprint's dimensions on their site. You could make the size argument for a GSM Diamond vs. a Touch Pro, but for a CDMA Diamond I'm just not seeing it. I used to be a happy Diamond owner but now I'm glad I'm exchanging it, the Touch Pro is just that much better for my needs -- it's truly a business oriented device.

Re: Im man enough to admit I was wrong
No ones debating the physical size numbers- but what hes saying, and i agree with, is between the extra width, height, and especially weight it feels a lot bigger in the hand. It also depends what you came from, if you came from a flip or touch then itll feel big; from a mogul probably small or perfect size. Its all relative. So is speed, its close enough its negligible- more personal preferences and what you have installed, tweaked, or just in your head because next to eachother they open programs at the same time, ive tired it over and over and over.
And i have to agree the chrome is cheezy looking IMO and give it a few months and thatll be the first part to be scratched up. Chrome on phones is always the first thing to get scratched because its always done cheaply and never holds up as tough as the black shiny finish or soft touch paint would. Im sticking with my Diamond as well just for pocketablility and feels better in my hand. I simply dont type enough to justify resigning a contract and paying $260 when i already had a Diamond and SERO out of contract, just isnt worth it in my situation to change over. Re: Im man enough to admit I was wrong
I'm coming from a Treo 800w and the TP is the same thickness. The TP is a bit heavier though. I had a Diamond for a weekend and I couldn't deal with not having a physical keyboard and a memory slot. The Diamond and the TP are both beautiful devices and probably the best WM devices on the market. They made two styles for a reason... to satisfy the people on both sides of this discussion. I'm happy to have an HTC device mainly because of the customizability. Enjoy your phones.
