NOPE. not false. Went through the same on a Sprint Touch Diamond.. Sprint tech confirmed that it was removed from the phone. Only way is to reset through the clear storage..

I hard reset my Diamond when I returned it for the Touch Pro. Worked fine. I think I remember having to make sure the device was off before starting the reset sequence.

Huh..? Wrong! Where do people come up with this stuff?? I hard reset my Sprint Diamond all of the damn time. Admittedly, I have yet to get a hard reset to work while the phone is on. I have to turn the phone off then hold center pad, volume down and then hold the power button. Still though, it works.
