I had trouble doing this as well. The Best Buy chick and I were trying to hard reset one that she f'ed up by resetting in the middle of customization (wouldn't boot past the "Touch PRO" screen anymore) and we couldn't do it. We followed the directions PRECISELY as they are in the manual several times without any luck. I even tried different ways of doing it, including using the soft reset button.

We never got it to work. It kinda scares me because if I can't boot into WM, I can't go to Clear Storage (if that ever happens to this one).

I never got it working either. Had to use clear storage to hard reset.

It works. I've done it about 10 times.

Phone has to be turned off.

Hold the VolDown + Ok + Top Power for a few seconds and it works. Instructions are wrong in manual to an extent. Key is the phone is turned off.

Yes the key is that the phone has to be off. Also, many people are confusing the power button and the reset button. The directions in the manual are correct...people just need to read more carefully.

+1 as stated above, the phone has to be off!!!!! Don't touch the re-set button or anything like that, just volume down + the OK and then press the power button holding all 3 together and you will get your message! Where did you see that Sprint told HTC to disable hard the hard reset?

I just tried it using the instructions above, took me to the hard reset screen, I just dont have the need to reset it at this time.

To hard reset, phone has to be OFF, press vol down and enter button together than press power button on top of the unit, leave vol down and enter pressed ontil prompted to hard reset.
