Re: GPS Lag with Sprint Nav on Touch Pro

I get a 1-3 second lag as well. Funny thing is, when I had a HTC Diamond flashed to Cricket service, the GPS ran smooth as if it was an actual GPS unit, moving fluently with my motion. Sucks Sprint isn't as fast. :/

Re: GPS Lag with Sprint Nav on Touch Pro

tried google earth on my TP. No lag... but i think there is a difference between using google earth and for example igo. the moving map is moved by commands issues from google over the internet when i am using google earth. when i am using igo, the command to move and scroll the map is issued by igo and TP itself. I think this explained why there is no lag at all using google map on the TP.

What? Google maps lags on ALL phones... usually the dot is delayed, and then flies quickly to where you are. I've never seen it as smooth as a real GPS device, (like you make it sound.)

Change your POLL interval to 50 and it becomes more fluid. Sprint Nav. shows the speed reading in the compass menu to be more stable as well. Before I changed this setting, the speed would vary 10mph +/- near the target speed. After this change, the speed would only vary 1-2 +/- which is on par with my Holux 236b GPS-Bluetooth receiver.

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Drivers\GPSOneDevice\PollInterval=50

Note: This does not fix lag, it is still there, just to let you know.

ah, but it at least helps the "fluidity" of the motion?

yes, it does. Of course, the more sattelite locks you have the better, I find it to work the best between 8-12 sattelites.

Check this post I made about settings, I learned a lot from it.

Are you using garmin? If so can you give provide us with steps on configuring gpsgate

I am using Iguidance, but it shouldn't matter

Step by step:
When you install gps gate just uncheck the auto install and select manual
It runs in the tray of your today screen so you need to go there tap and hold the icon for options or if you are on TF3D you can launch it twice and the 2nd launch will bring up the options menu.
Click settings
Input tab click settings
under serial port select com4 GPS multiplexer
everything else default
OK
select output
under add output drop down and select virtual com port
click add
drop down and select com2
click OK
So now you should see GPSgate direct ad Virtual com2 in active output
back in the input tab you can click open and it will start searching for sats.

Once it says gps with valid position then any app that you run at this point you select com2 for the GPS and you should have no lag at all.

You may want to run quick GPS before opening the imput just to get a superfast initial lock.

I notice that even though i may not run GPS for a week when I do launch GPS gate and Iguidance there is instant lock with 8-10 sats where ths same config on my mobile would take about 2-3 mins with 4-6 sats.

I also use wktask's quick launcher to start the progs. just add both Gps gate and GPS program to the quick launcher then give them the same shortcut key number/letter and now both prog icons will be on the same launch button. So 1 click and you are instantly up and locked when the GPS mapping program is finished loading
