Thanks for exchanging your phone--every time this happens, it sends a message to Sprint and HTC. When I finally returned my 6th phone, and got a refund, because the damn thing would stop charging and die during a phone call--the Sprint rep laughed a little when he told me I cost Sprint about $3,000 in the last 30 days.

Good. They should not have released such a flawed product. It should work as a "phone" first, and foremost. I am glad people are coming to their senses and getting these things replaced. I bet even the people who said theirs are perfectly fine are probably getting theirs replaced too, but will not announce it on here.

I wish I could get some hard numbers on the number of returns/exchanges on the Sprint Touch Pro.
LOL! So what happens with all the returned phones? They go back to HTC for repair? Do they try to fix and resell them back to retailers or do they go through other channels?

Sounds like you do, in fact have the heating/charging issues. You just haven't introduced a scenario that would trigger it. Try making a 1-2 hour phone call, while on the charger, and watch your battery drain. All 6 of mine would lose about 20-30% during the first hour, and I'd be getting low-battery warnings by the second hour. This means, I had to keep my phone on the charger all day long, otherwise I couldn't take a long phone call. Nothing is more embarassing, (and unacceptable,) to have a battery die during an important call, especially when the device should be more than capable...

Depending on the reason for return, they end up in the "exchange" pile at that local store. If it has a true defect, it is sent back to HTC, and "refurbished." All this means is they probably replace the obvious problem part, and send it back out. There's no way HTC can fix all these problems--many of them are design flaws.

If anyone is holding out, waiting for the perfect CDMA HTC Touch Pro, you might as well give up. Just set your eyes on some other new phone, like the X1a or Omnia... Don't give yourself the added stress...

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

Here are my Touch Pro problems:

1. Raised Home button
2. Touchscreen sensitivity issues on edges of screen
3. I hear a fluttering or glitching during calls. This occurs every five to ten seconds or so. I thought it was just the voicemail but I heard it during a call today.

I bought this phone more than 30 days ago. I didn't switch from my Sprint Mogul to the Touch Pro until yesterday. After finding this forum, now I realize how screwed I really am. CRAP!!! Now I have to go through a dozen or so refurb's until I get one that doesn't fail in every way.

What a waste of $300.

Anyone have a suggestion how I can come out ahead in this situation?

Thanks for any advise,

Runout74

If you have insurance, your best bet is to try your local Sprint store. The quicker the better, because I don't think they have the refurbs available yet.

If you don't have insurance, I recommend GETTING it asap...

Either really lucky or ignorance is bliss, no problems whatsoever! Got the insurance though and will monitor.

scrap, does Sprint allow you to get insurance at any time? I thought you had to be within 30 days

Nope, that is AT&T, from what I gather.

You just have to call and order, and they will call your phone to verify it works. You may have to hit some buttons, to respond to their prompts. It's basically a little test to make sure you aren't cheating them. You cannot place a claim within the first 30-days, I believe... I am not sure though...

I guess they may have changed their policy, but when I ordered my insurance, it was well into owning my SCP-5500.

You might have to switch back to another phone, then back to your Pro, if there IS some sort of 30-day limitation. You can do this easily online, as I'm sure you're aware.
