Re: Touch Pro Build Date

Just got my replacement... from 10/21 build date to 10/16 LOL

So far, it seems good though... battery cover clicks a little, but not as bad as my previous. Speakers seem fine, sensitivity seems fine, battery seems fine and Sprint gave me another battery for free.

/me crosses fingers this one works. Someone had returned it because they didn't like the talk time. So sadly, it's not new

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

Bought my TP from Sprint the day after Thanksgiving. So far, having a build date of 11/19, I haven't really found a flaw besides the GUI having some lag once in a while. It may be manufactured this way, but with a little push/twist, I can move the bottom and top when in closed position. It doesn't feel loose enough to where I can just tap it and it moves. Another item I noticed is that when in speaker phone, it sounds a bit static, but I rarely use it unless I'm on hold. The sound quality through the ear peace is great. Has a little bass to it. The only time I feel the back of it heat up is when I set it to active sync, but not like a hot potato. I may be just tweaking about the wiggle, but I haven't found anything to justify if it's defective. I'm pretty pleased with this model and skeptical about trading it in. This is my first PPC so I don't have the availability to compare it to any others. Still doing some research though about the speaker phone issue.

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

10/29/08, no problems except warm battery. It's the Sprint version.

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

Just swapped and 11/6 build for another 11/6 build, and it's got a big gap between the keyboard and screen parts, as well as a couple chrome nicks right out of the box. The d-pad isn't perfectly level either, and the back squeaks, but I can live with that. It's the keyboard gap and the chrome nicks that are bugging me.

Is anyone getting a build date newer than around 11/6 or 11/8 from Best Buy? I'm seeing newer build dates here, but it doesn't seem that St. Louis BB stores have them. I haven't checked with a corp store yet, because I don't want to lose the ability to return at BB if I need to. I know BB has the ESN on the receipt, but I don't know if they check if it matches what you're returning -- I know they scan the new ESN, but I can't recall if they scan (or manually check) the ESN of the one you're returning to verify it matches. If they don't, I'm tempted to see if a corp Sprint repair store might have a newer batch and be willing to swap. I just don't want to lose my exchange privileges at BB, which go through late January because of the holidays.

I'm also wondering whether, given the rumors of an improved version in January, I should hang on to this one and swap if/when we know what's happening with that. I can live with it for awhile if it's going to be easier to get one of the improved ones by hanging on to one with a few flaws. Then again, if I can get one that's good now, maybe I won't care about the revision that may or may not be happening.

After my third defective Pro from BB, I called retentions, and they tried to send me one. Of course they screwed up, and sent me a Diamond--so I ended up returning the Pro to BB, and picking one up a week later from Sprint.

Just so you are aware, the newer builds don't seem to be that much better. I believe it's all "luck of the draw." There are people with the original phones (batch-wise,) and are perfectly happy.---with that said, there seem to be a lot of really lenient people here, that don't care about overheating/charging loss/bad earpieces/etc... So who know how great ANY of the builds are, but even people with the new ones seem to have some issues...

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

I truely thought this thread was BS, but I just got my replacement (11/17) and it feels like a different model all together. It has a tight slide, the buttons(volume and power) are raised for a tactile feel, call volume is loud and clear on both speaker and earpiece, and the UI is smooth with more anamation between screen changes.

Now lets see if it locks up during charging!

This post confirms what I knew all along. Most people are blind to the issues of these phones, until they see how it is supposed to be.

Thanks for exchanging your phone--every time this happens, it sends a message to Sprint and HTC. When I finally returned my 6th phone, and got a refund, because the damn thing would stop charging and die during a phone call--the Sprint rep laughed a little when he told me I cost Sprint about $3,000 in the last 30 days.

Good. They should not have released such a flawed product. It should work as a "phone" first, and foremost. I am glad people are coming to their senses and getting these things replaced. I bet even the people who said theirs are perfectly fine are probably getting theirs replaced too, but will not announce it on here.

I wish I could get some hard numbers on the number of returns/exchanges on the Sprint Touch Pro.

Mine says a Manufacturer Date of 11/20. I walked into a Sprint store and purchased it on 12/5.
