Re: Tethering with WMWifiRouter .91
Ok, So I am having the GAYEST time with wm wifi router, and even just strait USB tethering.
Can some one please give me steps for doing this? For Wifi router, I installed the ICS or whatever .cab, but when I run wifi router says it is waiting on ICS forever. So then it won't work. When I tether it, I installed the "tethering" fix cab from Smartphonejunkie.com and then hit internet sharing, and it does nothing. Says it is identifying, yet on my phone it says it is connected....? What am I doing wrong? I have looked through all the posts and just can't seem to put it together...Thanks everyone who helps! |

Installed the FREE .91 version of WMWIFIRouter and my laptop was surfing online in less than two minutes. No further tinkering needed, it just worked. Not sure why everyone else is having problems. |
Re: Tethering with WMWifiRouter .91
I just sighned up for the 21 day trial and WMWifiRouter is working great. Wireless, USB etc.
My connection says SPRINT and once you set it up initially, it is plug and play. I am using this app because my regular tethering via USB with my Diamond was working as Phone as Modem only, after working fine for over a month. |

Re: Tethering with WMWifiRouter .91
I use version .81 on my TP and it works perfect. Unlike the newer versions you have to create your own adhoc wireless connection, but it isn't all too hard. I didn't need to use any tweaks or whatever.
I installed the Sprint cleanup tweaks cab before though. The only reason I use the .81 version is because my Mogul couldn't install .91 due to some issue with a setup.dll and this was the only version that didn't have a setup.dll. I never downloaded a newer version and it works with the TP so whatever. I used it on a busride from New York to Boston and it worked great. Support should be given for v.91 regardless, especially since the license it was issued in was freeware. It doesn't matter if later versions were shareware. Also if someone asks how to work their paid GPS program, why should they need to prove ownership of the program for someone with some knowledge to provide help? As long as we're not provided knowledge to crack software. |

Functionality-wise the pre-shareware versions work more or less the same as the later ones. |
Re: Tethering with WMWifiRouter .91
I will just stick with the free version. Anyways one day sprint and all the companies will block these programs anyway then what? he gonna give you a refund lol

Re: Tethering with WMWifiRouter .91
I found a CAB for the 1.25 version and downloaded it which overwrote the trial vaersion. I was using the CAB for a few hours then all of a sudden I could not access the internet even though the app said I was connected.
I tried Internet Sharing with Phone as Modem and that did not connect either:scratch: I thought the cab was creating the problem so I deleted it and downloaded the trial version again. No luck so I reset the Diamond which I should have done in the first place. I was back in business. I am still using the trial version of 1.25 because I don't want to have any problems. The CAB did enter all of the parameters automatically. I didn't have to click to enter anything. The trial 1.25 does everything for you but the CAB was even quicker. With the trial version, you have to click on TRIAL but the CAB does not enter TRIAL. It enters some sort of registration so I assume the CAB bypasses the 21 day trial. I would go back to the CAB but I figure the app is worth the $30.00. The CAB is designated as v1.25 600 something. I wanted to be specific with this info just in case someone else runs into the same issues I had. I thought the WMWifiRouter had been compromised:( |

Re: Tethering with WMWifiRouter .91
Just to clarify my previous post, There seems to be 2 CABS:
One is the v1.25 Version which downloads with a 21 day trial. It also prompts you for a registration key but all you do is click on TRIAL. The second is the v1.25 version 600 Build. When you download this version, it enters the registration key for you which I think bypasses the 21 day trial. I had issues with both until I soft reset my Sprint Diamond. I am now using the 21 day trial version v1.25 I figure it is worth the 20 euros or whatever it is. Also, I have been reading that there is a v1.30 coming out very soon. Was supposed to be available a couple of weeks ago but the v1.30 has some bugs with certain devices but the bugs should be worked out very soon. Can someone verify if I am correct regarding that thaese 2 CABS do what I described? One is available from the WMWifiRouter site and the 600 build is available on other sites on the web. |

Re: Tethering with WMWifiRouter .91
1. You can tether with a USB cable using ICS for FREE. No software needed.
2. You can tether with bluetooth and ICS for FREE. No software needed. 2.a (Maybe you'll need MightyMike's FREE ROM) 3. Why shouldn't a software developer get paid for his work, whether or not he offered it for free or as shareware or as donantion ware or WHATEVER! You sound like a bunch of whiny socialists. "CORPORATE GREED"? You've got to be kidding me. Two guys working out of their garage is now an example of corporate greed? Are developers not entitled to earn something for their labors? If they sell a lot of software and expand, guess what...They'll have to hire more developers. That means jobs for you and me. |
Re: Tethering with WMWifiRouter .91
i don't mind paying or donating all i am asking is if Sprint the Multimillion guys will charge me for either using WmWifiRouter or any other method of tethering

Re: Tethering with WMWifiRouter .91
If you don't have PAM and you use your phone as a modem in any way, shape, or form, including ICS/Modem/WmWifiRouter/PDANet, you are very likely violating your TOS.
Sprint (to choose one carrier at random) does not seem to care, but can detect this usage no matter what you do... but that doesn't change the violation. Proceed at the direction of your conscience/guru/priest/rabbi/mullah/whatever-sorry-if-i-left-yours-out. Yes, we should all be more clear about stating the obvious truth of the above fact. I shall personally endeavor to harsh everyone's mellow by doing so from time to time in all tethering topics in a hopeless attempt to bring harmony to teh intertubes. |
Re: Tethering with WMWifiRouter .91
you shouldn't feel bad about using v.91 even if the later versions are paid. If you wish to get the extra features of 1.25, then by all means pay for it, but don't let anyone convince you that you are obligated to pay for the newer versions just because they are shareware now.

Re: Tethering with WMWifiRouter .91
I'm having some issues....
I have a Verizon TP. I first installed wmwifirouter .91 on stock verizon rom and it worked great for weeks. One day my wifi stopped working and i couldn't think of one thing i did that would have messed with it. I had to hard reset. Back to plain, fresh, stock rom i installed the app and it worked great until i decided that i would add WPA authentication onto the adhoc connection and rename it for convenience (WPA is said to not work with adhoc connections). the strange thing is that wifirouter still worked for about a week until i changed the adhoc connection WPA password and renamed the connection again. After that i could not get my wifi to connect to its own adhoc connection. It finds it, wifi router will connect to it, but my wifi would not get p***** the "connecting" stage in the wifi settings. Now, my wifi would connect to my home infrastructure network but would not do anything. Example being gremote would time out and not work on 2 pc's that never had a problem before. I tried removing authentication from the connection, still wouldn't work. I removed the connection and manually recreated it, still nothing. I tried uninstalling wifirouter but it would not uninstall, which meant i couldn't reinstall it. I upgraded to a new version (which added both versions in my program list) which didn't fix my wifi issues. I was looking to flash with custom rom for various issues so about 2 weeks later when i finally got the motivation to flash and redo my phone i installed mighty rom (which is pretty cool). Once i got everything going i installed .91 and gave it a go. Same issue. Wifirouter created the default adhoc connection but my wifi wont connect to it. Its finding all the connections around me and the wifirouter adhoc connection, but wont lock on it. I haven't even added authentication to it. I have yet to test gremote but this kind of sucks. Any ideas? how could it do the same thing after a hard reset? BTW - the newer versions of the app are slow and buggy. They take way to long for wifi router to connect and the connection seems to always get "reset by remote party". .91 is fast, simple, and best of all.......FREE!! Thanks a bunch. |

Re: Tethering with WMWifiRouter .91
I am having the exact same problems. I never had one single problem with WMwifi in my old Titans (I just installed it with the wizard & it worked) but I can't get it to work in any of my TP's to save my life.
I have the paid for latest version installed in a Sprint TP flashed with a scrosler ROM & activated on Verizon. WMwifirouter shows up as an available wireless network in my ipod touch & in my laptop along with my home linksys wireless router. If I click to connect to it, both the touch & the LT seem to connect to it just fine. If I then try to open a site, it tries to connect for a while & then says "server stopped responding" & never ever connects. If I then click the linksys instead, both systems connect immediately. I have tried redoing all the settings with no password or security of any kind enabled & even then it won't connect. I set the wireless LAN on the highest performance setting & that made no difference. I am at my wits end here, I have no idea what else to try here. Does anybody have a clue WTF I'm missing here?? ~John |
Re: Tethering with WMWifiRouter .91
I have the v1.25 and everything is working well. After the trial, I will pay the $30 or so as it is very much worth it to me.Obviously if my Internet Sharing was working as it did previously, I would not need WMwiifiRouter. But as I mentioned before,Internet Sharing is now connecting as Phone as Modem. But WM is connecting as Sprint which is fine. WM well worth the money and very easy to use. Works by itself:)With the issues you are having and since you have the paid version, maybe you can drop WM an email as they have Customer Support for the paid version and also free upgrades for any future versions. v1.30 is around the corner as per WMWifiRouter.

Re: Tethering with WMWifiRouter .91
Well, if wifi router isnt going to work for me, does anyone know the workaround for verizon tethering?
|
Re: Tethering with WMWifiRouter .91
If wmwifirouter isn't working for you its your rom not the software I have extensively tested this even on the stock sprint rom. It works very well. and I agree with Biker1 if you have issues drop an email to customer support that is watched and thats part of what causes new revisions is bug fixes. So please if you ever have issues report them

Re: Tethering with WMWifiRouter .91
Does anyone know what I need to put for the wep password in .91? I need to secure it so my neighbors don't pirate my connection. When I tried entering my own password it said it didn't match with the program or something like that.

anyway to all having problems your rom probable doesn't have the internet sharing hack and your carrier can see tehtering and block it their is a cab i believe in the essentials if anyone needs it pm me i will post a link later when i have time to but basicly you always have needed to delete and certain reg entries like rilphone and stuff from internet sharing folder and change certain values to 0 on internet sharing keys in reg pretty obvious if you search through reg however do not delete rilphone from anywhere else or better yet search through tho mogul forums many discussions but ill post cab anyway some entries are so obvious it not even funny i think one even said disable pam or disable internet sharing and stuff like that but basicly you will make windows show carrier it using info not passing through as pam it will connect as phone but i believe it is the various roms that are what is allowing some and not others but this will def fix the issues of people showing data con on laptops and it not getting any packets the phone isn't forwarding them simple as that and as far as wmwifirouter if you have it great if not be legit and if you not sure pm before you post and many will help you. but you should not do anything for .91 and up just install it and run it will even turn wifi on on our phones only phones thaty don't are ones that have hw switch |

try the cabs below before these hacks should work fine for everyone i also have man install files avail that jus need to be copied to the windows folder if anyone needs if anyone else still having problem tell me what rom your using and i will test it out and find a solution for you
sprint http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...ing+fix&page=2 att http://www.fuzemobility.com/how-to-s...-the-att-fuze/ verizon should be same as att some believe these haelp hide tethering to HKLM\Software\OEM\WMODEM "add DWORD "CheckProfile"=0" "set DWORD "Multi-NAI"=0" "set DWORD "WModemDUN"=0" i personally believe that these are not necessary anymore however they can't hurt the multi nai if anything is the only one that probably does anything useful. this used to work on my mogul if anyone still having problems try (delete) the registry key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing] "Extension"="rilphone.dll" this will fix error 67 if that your prob internet sharing install cab encase anyone needs i have heard vzw doesn't include if thats case simply install then run this shouldn't need any hacks http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment...8&d=1228026795 and for the lazy run this cab to do the hacks works for me i do it just to not take chances if this doesnt work refer to instructions above http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=13356&d=1219876832 and if this works give a thanks |
