I may just play with it a while to figure out what is going on. At the moment it is working fine. I would prefer to deal with the people in my Sprint store so I may wait until they get the phones in to get it exchanged if that is what it takes.

you could be waiting a LONG time, I'd just take it back to a best buy since that's where you purchased it.

I have tried to do the Hard Reset a few times and I can not get it to work. I followed the procedure on page 82 of the manual. It does not seem to work. Is there a trick that I am missing?

The issue i'm having is that the actual text composition in threaded SMS seems to lag behind my typing. It's a bit frustrating as the input seems slow.

Wow, my phone shows thoses white marks on the bottom of the screen too when you slide out the keyboard!!! not all the time , but like 30-40% of the time, it goes away once you hit a button. But very annoying when you pay so much for a phone. I'm returning mines once Best buy have some more in :)

I did end up taking the phone back to Best Buy and got an exchange. The phone now works just fine. Much happier now. I ran into someone else who was also buying the pro while I was there. Lucky for him they still had at least a few Touch Pros there.

I wish I could find a best buy that had these in stock so I could replace mine

Did you get the phone from Best Buy? I have heard of this problem from a few people. There is even a YouTube video on this problem and the screen switching from horizontal to vertical and back. I would not even try to fix it on your own because who knows if this may happen again. I would return it to Best Buy and if they do not have one in stock, get your money back. Sprint will be releasing it on Nov 2nd for alot less than Best Buy. I wrote to dan@sprint.com and since I have been with Sprint for many years, I am getting the Pro for $200.00 with renewal.

Re: Touch Pro Keyboard problem?

My screen flipping issue was not resolved with a hard Reset.

Also, I opened the keyboard as a test tonight and left the phone sitting with the keyboard out. It eventually went to sleep. About 15 minutes later it work up, and the screen started flipping...

I can't tell if it is a software or hardware, but I am leaning to software, because with the experiment, I never touched the phone, it did it on it's own...

went to best buy and replaced mine and all is good. The back cover doesn't make noise anymore too. The second batch they are getting are much better than the first. Lucky me the first phone was from that batch.

mharvey: You are not alone in your problem with the screen rotation on the htc Touch Pro. It is a known problem, not all programs can work with the screen rotation when the keyboard is pulled out. I would guess that there will be a fix soon, after reading the thread at the site I note below. My guess is that htc and sprint wanted to get these phones on the market before the economy goes completly bonkers and nobody will spend money on such luxuries as this phone.

Please let me know if you get more info on this.
