How 'bout this... Can you tether freely? How fast GPS locks? Lol

- Tethering, attempted the tether option and was looking good so far without a issue, tested it with a HP zv 6000 laptop and USB connections, have not attempted the wifirouter program yet.

- GPS locks worked great on the google maps, the sprint navigation seemed kinda slow but did not have a a lot of satellite signal in the building.

When your in texting mode, Of course this will be in landscape mode, how much of the thread will be visible as oppose to the diamond where you could not see the previous message and only 1 line of your own text while typing. In other words, how large is the text area while texting or how many lines are viewable ?

- It was the same as the diamond UNLESS you changed the font size which did increase view of the messages on the screen.

One major question I have is keyboard lag. When typing a text message (quickly) does the phone keep up, or do you have to wait. I experience a lag on my Titan. I know it's not major, but it bugs the heck outta me.

- Sadley this still exists, but if you disable most or all of the text editing features the lag is not noticeable after the 3rd or 4th letter.

does the camera take pictures pretty rapidly after u take one .. how long till u can take another . putting the review time on minn setting... the flash take a while to recharge...?

- Didn’t see much a difference from the titan model to be honest for the speed and flash. But the Picture is beautiful to say the least.

smart dial... on the phone screen searching for people.. i would hit three keys on my touch and the system would still just be populating the letter for the first key i pressed on the first key ... is smart dialing quicker.. or there is still a lag

- I did see lag at first but nothing like you are stating, but with the Dialer used for the TF3D it was not as bad as on the titan and touch.

are u having trble with the space bar being that it was made smaller to fit in the 5th row...?

- Not at all, the keyboard is great! Having the Five row saved me time in typing messages, we want to have a contest for texting messaging tonight. We are going to do the PRO, Touch, Titian, and the Diamond to see typing ranges.

is the phone vibrate fairly strong ? .. is it located behind the keyboard part?

- Vibration is around the same as the titan, if not a little more sensitve.

does the screen shut off once the call is connected ...? is there a tone when the device is hung up so u know that the call is disconnected .. not sure if u can test these two since they arent connected to carriers yet

-Was able to test this as we do have a set line we can attach to the phone. The screen does shut off after the call is connected. And with the tones yes, but those can be disabled.

Does FCC and/or criticalaudioinc and/or anyone else have drawing or diagram or spec of this missing heat shield?

I'm looking for dimensions, thickness, install locations, etc. Since I doubt Sprint/HTC will provide the shield for retrofit, I'm sure I can make one if I had the specs.

Anyone? If I'm successful, I will share.

I'd love to know what the autocomplete for sending e-mails and texts is like. On our current phones we start to type the name of the recipient and the options appear directly under the field we're typing into quickly and easily. But when we've loaded the Diamond/Raphael keyboard onto our current Moguls it breaks this functionality and replaces it with something that's almost useless. It appears directly above the keyboard and seems to autocomplete only AFTER typing the entire name, defeating the purpose of autocomplete. Can you confirm how this functions on the Touch Pro?

The auto complete is there but you do have to select the option it provides. But if im not mistakened you can change this setting in the keyboard options.

concerning this heat panel stuff is it realistic to assume that sprint will recall these pda's to add a heat panel or maybe have people go to their repair reps, and have these panels added. this is the 1st pda i ever had die on me while i was charging and using at the same time. i emailed customer care (i never call) and told that the device is defective using bluetooth, slingbox almost anything makes the device extremely hot, they said they been having complaints about the heat of the unit, and even though my 30 days have past that i can exchange for a different device as long as i pay any difference in price.


Recall I doubt due to the phone p***** FCC without the heat shield, sprint and HTC expect high return of the diamonds with the pro release and hoping then to repair the issue, at aleast that was the discussion.

These are 2 great questions to start with! A couple more...

1. When using TF3D, opening the keyboard gives you those 8 icons. Is there any way you can change what those point to? I would rather have my "Notes" icon go to OneNote instead of the Windows Notes application.

- As changing the program list for the icons, it can be very simply done with a reg edit, I looked for a program or setting and wasn’t able to locate one.

I assume that the Touch Pro ROM has been a work-in-progress for at least several months and has gone through several updates. When did all these current issues show up and it was determined that all the Touch Pro's needed to be updated before it could be shipped out? That must have been a major decision.

- The errors and issues have been showing up since a week after the release of the diamond. When it was decided it was a major decision I just wish it could have been put on notification a little earlier

Are these issues showing up in the GSM version of the Touch Pro (ie. AT&T Fuze)?

- Yes they have, When HTC and the carriers fully discuss release of the update and rom it will help a lot. I was in a long conference call about that today, once the phone is released HTC is looking for customer comments and issues for all carriers.

I know that you said that the rounded edges will prevent the use of the GSM battery cover on this phone but I also read that you would give it a once over did you get a chance to look at that? I really like the look of the GSM battery than the plain silver one we will be getting do you think that it would take a lot to be able to use that cover instead of the silver one.

I might be making a fuss over something so simple but the GSM cover looks great.

- Attempted the modification today, the only issue is there is not enough to play with, the casing can fit but all corners are open, now could you mold something in the corners yes, would it be worth in a sense? Not sure that’s all user opinion. But I did bring up to HTC if it would be possible to release a Diamond backing for the Pro and Diamond as a accessory for the Rounded models, HTC was found of the Idea and will normally release this information or design to third party vendors.

- Discussed with HTC on this today, Telus and HTC are discussing the release and rom, they were unable to provide a date or a estimated month. But they did say the release would be close to the release of the one in America, I do apologize I do not have much information on this, Im attempting to obtain the rom for myself as I have heard this may have a nice repair for the Telus diamond rom and radio issue.

- After viewing the updates there showing to be the same except for version and creator. So I would say use the update.

For those who can stand to wait, any reason, technical or otherwise, to hold off on the Sprint Touch Pro and await future production built after issues settle down a bit?

- I might be stoned for this but in my opinion yes, but to sprint and HTC no. I still see some lag issues with the phone and GPS still bothers me a little due to I was not able to fully test it as the phone can not leave the building. Camera Seems to work great though.

Crit, could you post a hands-on review this weekend? You had the phone for days, and I wonder what your impressions over all towards the phones responsiveness, installed apps, sound quality, audio quality, all of that stuff. Thanks.

- Responsiveness – 7 to a 8 - NOTE: this can be repaired after some custom roms

- Apps – 9 – I still say it needs a better file explorer and and Media player, But again this is were there is profit is selling software. So only the basics will be included.

- Sound – 8 to 9 – need to use a EQ to get it perfect, but other then that factory sound was better then the mogul factory sound. But EQ does make a difference.

- Audio Quality – 9 – Me I have sensitive ears, and everyone hears differently, to me it was loud and clear, but I also turn my Ear piece down to the second bar if that tells you anything.

There was a small one issued for the pro, but all it did was change the timing for the G sensor if im not mistakened. So its really not a conflict. I didnt see a difference after it was added so I really dont consider it a update.
