I think that the post that everyone seems to be quoting is the best 'sell' thus far. (cordoder)

You have defiantly convinced me to lean more towards the touch pro.

but im still skeptical. it seems like the hardware can never keep up with the software. they release a new software interface but the hardware can just barely handle it. its like the hardware is always one step behind.

that is a wicked amount of RAM. but i have another question for you.
My ppc6800 says it came with 64MB of ram. and when i look at settings/hardware/device information, it says that i have 64mb ram total.

But, 17MB ram is for 'OS program program memory and 47MB ram is for program memory.

do u think the touch pro will have increased of both? (im sure it will) but do wee need more os program memory or just program memory? any thoughts on that. im sure with 288MB ram (or whatever it is) they will give each more. but how much is required for the OS. when u buy xp or vista is says on the box the minimum required ram.

I have the htc task manager. just hold 'x' on a program when im done with it. if u hold x the app closes and exits memory, rather then run in the back ground.

I also think that the accelerometer is gonna cause more hassle then we think. any of u have the ipod touch? or iphone? the dang web browser is always going into landscape mode when i set it on a table. it seems like the phone might ignore calls when u are walking with ur phone in ur pocket.(it ignores when it is flipped over screen down). kinda trivial i know.

the only time i want to 'shake' my phone is when it is crashed. image a city full of people shaking their phones.

also, is the gps with agps support gonna be free? or locked down.

believe it not the FM tuner is a big deal to me. as long as there is realtime MP3 encoding.

i could be totally wrong but i feel like im gonna be let down with the touch pro. after watching a bunch of demos/reviews on youtube, it seems like it is just like the mogul. the only reason i might get it cause everyone else is gonna have it and i dont wanna get left behind ;)

Trust me, if you have performance issues with your mogul, you will not be let down with the touch pro. We all know that no phone is perfect, but when a company makes specific objectives to fix an other wise buggy phone with a upgrade, you should know that this is not a time for joking.

Think of it this way, the touch pro and diamond have essentially the same hardware (processing and ram)... THEY ARE LITERALLY UPGRADING THEIR ENTIRE LINE OF PHONES TO ONE HARDWARE SPECIFICATION! That means they really think they got things right! The mogul/kaiser/touch/wing/etc. are being upgraded to the same specs!

As far as everything else you mentioned, these things seemed software based, lets net forget that unlike the iphone or any other phone, winmo has developers that know the OS inside and out and release custom roms periodically. Depending on what your running, i can see this phone easily having 200mbs of ram free. As usual, gps is free because it is based on the nasas FREE service, no one can charge for it but them and they chose not to.

FM maybe a hit, but realize that currently, what phone in the US can you name with one? not to mention there are tons of stations you can stream over the net. I used my mogul all this year to stream local sports shows, so i dont think this is an issue. And im pretty sure all gsensor apps can be configured to use it our not, but really, its going to do a lot more way more beneficial than harmful (rotate your phone to lock, rotate again to cream your favorite pair of pants)

All and all, relax, this phone is going to be a huge upgrade. And if you ever feel let down, i think it will because you are not making use of the awesome community backing this device

I am just all about the 3d drivers, resolution, and ram. Not to mention, it looks better than the titan.

I probably wont buy it unless the touch hd doesn't come out for sprint.

i cant believe that either. i'll like to have whatever it is he's drinking on. "check please!!!"

LMAO, can't believe you took it back to the Genesis system. Time to dust off the Atari and Super Pitfall games........

I can most def. agree with your post, seeing how everybody on almost every mogul board is trying to get their Mogul to look and operate like the Diamond/Touch Pro series. I can only imagine the phone/email request Sprint has had for an official release/ordering date for these phone. For the Diamond that would be this weekend..........

Point of interest, the Touch Pro has eGPS, not A-GPS. That's the newer standard that's beyond standard GPS or A-GPS. It's got faster lock times and better accuracy.

im pretty sure they have thought of that ahead of times, the pros and cons, and made an option for it jus like the samsung omnia.

i appreciate the comment but i could have told ya that there would be a settings menu.

as far as FM goes, i know some one who has a FM receiver in there 'dumb' phone. phone is a piece though.

Im, also confident in the people here will make this thing rock with tweeks and roms.

i never heard of egps so ill have to look into that. the defense department launched the gps satellites. yes anyone can utilize them. but if the carriers lock it out on the phone then we will need to crack it. i was wondering if the gps was 'officially' locked down. why ket people use it for free when they can charge ya. :)

our mogul has gps but we needed to crack it. ive done substantial work on this.

i understand that after the disappointment from your mogul that you're wanting to prepare yourself in case the touch pro doesn't live up to the hype. It's hard to get excited about a new device, spend a small fortune on it only to be let down by its lack of performance.

btw, if you think the tf3d is slow, you can always turn it off and run whatever today plugins you're using on your mogul at an exponentially faster rate.

vga screen
GRAVITY SENSOR
looks
just because its new
tired of my mogul running out of memory

do you know how frustrating it is to have a mogul and a tilt and see the different in speed and stability? i've done 2 two soft reset today on my mogul and i've yet to do one on my tilt since flashing Dutty's Rom on here(3months and counting)
