Depends on how you look at what's 'helpful' in regards to the post in question. While one person would tell you that there's nothing of value in a particular post, another user would tell you that it was immensely useful - in regards to the posts you said 'thank you' for, they were (based on my interpretation) in regards to Diamond not being avail in the stores right now and possible push-back of the Pro's launch date. Now to some this could be a really huge deal especially if you were counting on returning your Diamond for the 30 day exchange for the Pro... but how you use the 'thanks' button is entirely up to you. You will find some users use it more sparingly than others...

you get rep points for each thanks, which result in more of the green little jewels...

The information on this thread really helped me understand the touch pro a lot more.

The idea behind the system is that if someone helps you out, you give them kudos by hitting the button. In turn, the more 'thanks' someone has the better their rep, so you can identify the users that provide the most accurate and/or helpful (useful) information. Of course as with ANY system, it's not perfect, but tis the current system in place...

There could be several reasons you dont get a 'thanks' from some people, like for one example Mishenim (based on quote above) would rather just say thank you than to press the button, which will not only notify you (in UserCP) whom thanked you and what post, but would also increase your rep amongst the community...
