No clue.... wholesale.. whatever that is.. I'd assume they probably pay about what sprint charges with a contract (isn't it a b*tch that your "subsidized" phone is probably still being sold at or above wholesale?)... then they make a 3-500 commission for selling it... Since it's a top end phone requiring a SE plan, they probably make close to $500... so, they buy it for $350, sell it for $50, but make $500 in commissions.. they net $200 on the deal.. multiply that by 50-100 times a week for several months, and it's a good business plan.

My numbers may or may not be totally accurate, but you can see the concept...

Re: htc touch pro (rafael) price?

Sprint has retracted their SE plan requirement for these phones - they actually make more having customers pay ala carte for the individual parts of the plan than forcing them into an SE plan -- the exception, SERO, is still being decided on.

1,000,000,001 time SE plan is ONLY for the Instinct not these phones

Re: htc touch pro (rafael) price?

for now... lets keep in mind sero is no longer an offering to new subscribers, I would not be shocked to find out that I needed to switch to a SE plan to get one of these new phones activated. The tag line they used as to why you needed a SE plan with the instink was that it was needed to make use of the 1- Internet Capabilities, 2- GPS navigation, and 3- Sprint TV. Which one of those three things do you think will be missing from the Raphael (please spare any mogul release comments...)

I truly hope that this is not going to be the case, but until I have the new phone in my hand activated on my SERO line of service, I won't believe that there isn't a strong probability of it happening. If it does though I will be saying SE ya later to sprint...

Re: htc touch pro (rafael) price?

It will most likely debut at $399 with a 2-year contract. The same as my PPC-6800, PPC-6700, Treo 650 and Treo 600. Jebus guys, this isn't a difficult trend to follow. Ebay sellers don't buy the phones. They typically have no stock and just sign you up. 3rd party sellers have very little stock and I doubt they actually paid for any of it, think consignment. They basically take a hit on their commission to make more sales. The catch is you MUST stay with a certain plan or better for a certain time frame. Sometimes this applies to upgrades sometimes it doesn't. I know what I will be paying for mine.
