Configuring Sprint-Branded Touch Pro to work on Verizon

Hello,

I'd like to know if it is possible to convert a Sprint-branded Touch Pro (PPC6850SP) to use on Verizon. I previously posted a question regarding problems with my phone, and in that post I commented on how Sprint customer service has been terrible. Therefore, I am ready to dump Sprint and go with either T-Mobile or Verizon (I thought about Cricket until I learned that they use Sprint's network). If I go with T-Mobile I will need a GSM phone, but I thought that, if I can repair this thing, and convert it to use with Verizon, I can save myself the cost of a new phone (I have a basic Verizon phone that can be used in the interim).

Is this possible? If so, how do I go about it? Although I hate Windows Mobile with a passion, I would keep that OS for the time being (but would consider Android or another OS in the future if those bugs can be worked out). Would there be any ramifications, such as the loss of certain programs and/or features? I mainly use my phone for calls, text messaging, internet (through wi-fi), and Windows-based programs; I do not use the TV, Sprint email, Weather, or GPS.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't know for sure as I have always been on sprint. But I have heard of multiple posts with people saying they have a sprint phone on verizon. I'd check the ROM flashing posts. I am pretty sure that you would benefit from a verizon carrier cab, but am not sure if that would be enough. You may need to access your provisioning too.

Re: Configuring Sprint-Branded Touch Pro to work on Verizon

The real question is:
Can you get Verizon to accept the ESN/MEID into their system?
It can be done and is truly the hardest part. If you get that done I can help you get the rest flashed over.
I flash phones from other carriers to cricKet wireless everyday so it's going to be fairly simple.
Just don't flash a Verizon stock ROM on your Sprint TP.

I moved to the EVO and would like to get my dad on my old Sprint TP.

How do I go about it? Do we call Verizon and ask them if htey will take the ESN? Then flash it if they will?

Thanks

Basically yes, but even if they do accept it, it's not a typical flash to get the phone on VZW. You'll need to update the PRL list & flash. There may be some tricks you have to do to get data/web/mms to work.
