Not entirely true about Android...HTC Sense Android phones have more Apps available to them then non-Sense equipped Android devices.(Not many, but they get Sense Widgets that aren't available to everyone in the market -So moving from a Hero to a Moment and you'll have apps/widgets in your dowload box that aren't compatiable) Also you run into the Root/ Non-ROOT issue - case in point are tethering apps which have been removed (possibly banned) from the Android market, meaning you need ROOT access to get the App installed and functioning. But since not all Android Phones are Rooted the same way, and not all have SD card slots you run into this issue of doing backdoor hacks to install a simple App when the whole point was to migrate effortlessly between phones and carriers. Also the TV-Out apps being developed won't make the market for the reason of being device specific. Almost like how the newer Eclair phones have newer improved Apps but their is no exact promise to keep Official upgrades coming for the earlier Android phones. So if you for some reason went from a stock Nexus One to say a stock Samsung Moment or HTC Hero - you will again have Apps that won't transfer over. Also some of the Apps for Cupcake 1.5 are not compatiable with Eclair, because they conflict with some of the software kernel updates that made those apps no longer needed, but that is almost the same issue Windows created moving from Mobile to Phone and Palm created with migrating from Palm-OS to Windows
