well i like windows mobile alot and i like the full keyboard with the tp2. I use my phone for web, email, music.so im not sure how much of an upgrade the tp2 is from the tp. my tp is crap, i mean i like what it can do, but its slow, freezes up alot and ive had like four replacement phones already.

The TP2 is a huge upgrade from the TP1. HUGE. On paper, it doesn't seem that way, but it performs better, battery life is improved, the keyboard is flawless, and it's sexy.

That said, I also love the Hero (my gf has it). Play with both and see which you prefer. The Hero is definitely a lot cheaper, if money is an object in your decision.

Re: htc hero or htc touch pro 2?

tp2 isn't THAT big of an improvement and many are complaining that it's not. same processor/memory.

only true upgrades are the screen and stock 6.5

the kb i have heard mixed reviews on. some like it better, others don't. i personally don't like it better due to the tab button.

it is a bigger phone, not as sleek as our tp1's. obviously a bigger screen means a bigger phone.

also the tp2 does not carry a flash, another big hit for alot of people.

personally if i have to pay that much for a phone, i'm waiting for something with a true upgrade to it. it is just way too pricey for something so comparable to the tp1.

I haven't seen people complaining about it...and just because it's the same processor and memory doesn't mean that it's not an improvement.

This is wrong. It doesn't even come with 6.5 stock. It's 6.1. There are several upgrades that are not here as well. The keyboard is vastly improved, the overall build quality of the device is also vastly improved, call quality is better, speakerphone is 100x clearer and is also louder, 3.5mm headphone jack, better sliding mechanism, much longer battery life, and a more responsive screen (especially on the corners).

This is another thing I've never seen a negative review on. Most people say that it's the best hardware keyboard they've ever seen on a mobile device, and I tend to agree with that. Not having a tab key is trivial compared to the improvements made on the ease of use.

Not really a big deal. It's not HUGE, and for having this much screen real estate and that nice of a keyboard with tilt, I'd take the extra bulk any day.

This is probably the only thing I agree on. Not having a flash kinda sucks. Not so much for the camera, but I liked using it as a flashlight.

IMHO, you can't even compare it to the TP1. I had so many headaches with that phone that I started to really dislike it after a few months. The battery died fairly quickly, the build quality was sub-par, and the screen was just too small to enjoy VGA. I absolutely love the TP2. I loved the TP1 for only a couple months.

interesting, i was under the impression it came with 6.5. i see that it does not.

i agree that the build quality is greatly improved and it does run much smoother. however with the same processor, it can still only compute so fast.

i have never had a problem with my kb, though i do see many that have so i'm not sure how to comment on this. i have seen a few people complain about the tab key, for me this was something fairly big to complain about as i use it often on websites.

the speaker phone is greatly improved thanks to the noise cancelling 2nd mic. this is a feature i would have really like on the tp1. and the addition of the 3.5mm jack was a great idea.

but overall (after paying for the tp1), i just can't justify the price of the tp2, with or without a contract. if the tp2 was going for $100 with a contract extention, that would be one thing, but $350 with a new contract?

if you got this as a replacement for the tp1 thats a different story but for the average phone junky, paying for the tp1, then full price for the tp2, the differences just aren't enough to sway someone like myself.

but i think i'm one of the luck few with little to no problems with the tp1.

Re: htc hero or htc touch pro 2?

yes i heard the tp2 does not have a flash, which kinda sucks because i as well use currently my tp1 as a flashlight sometimes. I know cheaper doesnt not necessarily mean a cheap product(htc hero) but i seen it and just by looking at it, it seems like it cant do as much as the tp2. my friend has the htc hero and he likes it better than the tp1 which i dont blame him. and money for me is not an issue, i can upgrade in like a month, and the phone would cost me like 250, i guess the only thing i dont like about the hero is not having a keyboard which i use alot with the tp.
