Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)
so you think it's switching to 1x when trying to get an mms? i have tried over and over with different settings and each time i get the same result. i send an mms from yahoo or sprint or wherever and about the time i would receive on the phone, my 3g turns into an e for a split second, then back to 3g.
actually i believe you are right. when i call the phone the 3g icon turns into an e then dissappears. when i hang up, it appears as an e then switches to a 3g icon. would we normally go to 1x when receiving an mms? possibley because 3g is in use? i dunno, mms is through 3g. maybe it switching to 1x is whats stopping the mms from getting to us?

I read a few before and you gave some info on what you changed... or did you not? Just asking because once she is home I can add the info and test again.

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)
i didn't really post anything on what i have changed so far other than removing the settings from the internet apn and creating an mms apn.
nothing else seems to have improved anything. i have found however that instead of inputting the ip adderss as stated in my original post, using mms.sprintpcs.com/?x-mdn=(10 digit number) works the same as the ip address one. no change. i believe just using mms.sprintpcs.com worked also. i have also tried a few different mms.apk files from various places but those made no difference. i have tried inputting user name and password but that didn't make any difference for me either. at this point, with the tools i have, i'm not sure what else to do. but i'm sure something else will come to me shortly lol. i have noticed lately that playing with the apn settings often resets my phone. i have had android reboot on me about 15 times today while playing with the settings. agrivating! lol the work continues on! |

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)
can you do me a favor if possible? when she gets home (she has a hero right?) grab any apn settings you can for me and if you know how see if you can post a copy of her mms.apk and apns-conf.xml file so i can test these with our build to see if i get any results.

Alternately, if it's stuck on the shimmery nexus one animation (the 4 color x) then it's probably something to do with the data partition. Trash data.img and try again. Quote:
The E stands for EDGE. the RIL (I assume this is a RIL issue) pretends that the cdma network is a gsm network, so it uses GSM terminology... EDGE and 3G, instead of 1x and EvDO. The upshot there is that the MMS is coming in to the RIL, getting mangled by it, and confusing the RIL into either dropping into 1x service for a second, or simply reporting that it's dropping into 1x service for a moment. That's both good and bad news. Good news -- it gives a lot more credence to the guess that the problem is the RIL. Bad news -- now someone has to fix it. Which probably involves getting an AT Debug Log from WinMo for receiving an MMS, figure out how that's getting misread by the RIL, and fix it up to read it correctly. I don't think I'm qualified to do that, unless it happens to be an easy fix. Quote:
Anyway, apns-conf.xml just holds the defaults. When you add your own APN, it's the same thing as if it had read it from apns-conf. So whatever's missing there, it shouldn't do any harm. I am curious how real CDMA android phones do it... do they even have an APN section in the settings? |
This post has been thanked 2 times. |

Woud anything from the Mytouch 3G (TMobile though...) would that would help? I think I can get my hands on one fairly quikly (in a few hours at most, can have the files by tomorrow... )... let me know. The reason I mention the mytouch is I have a friend that wont mind if I borrow it for a bit, he will just put his sim card back on his previous phone. Im going to unlock it anyway so this would be an oportunity to dump anything else you guys may need. I will need direction though... Last edited by mapaz04; 03-18-2010 at 08:36 PM. |
