Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)

I have tried everything to set my cableone email in the pop3 settings in Andriod, wtih no luck, makes it thru the incoming setup but for outgoing setup it fails. I matched it to what i have in my Windows mobile.

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)

Makkonen, it would be really cool if you could put together an all-in-one for Android 2.1 as well once it matures. Is your version more stable than 2.1 right now?

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)

I'm running the Android 2.1 Espresso release on my Touch Pro. I'm finding that its mostly snappy, with the odd slowdown. I'm going to try today's kernel, as the current one I grabbed yesterday reboots if I try Wifi. 3G is working, and HTC's UI is awesome.

How to Get It Working:
Grab the latest 2.1 "Rosie" package of Android 2.1 Espresso from XDA's Blackstone Forum
Grab Last Night's Autobuild zImage
Grab Last Night's Autobuild rootfs
Grab Latest initrd

1. Cleaned SD of old files.
2. Installed the 2.1 package to my SD.
3. Copied calibration files and startup.txt from Makkonen's package.
4. Copied zImage, modules, rootfs, initrd to SD.
5. Boot into Android 2.1 with Haret!

Features of Note in the 2.1 Release:

Boots up with Verizon Logo (On my Telus Touch Pro)
HTC's UI with I believe 5 desktops and a ton of HTC widgets.
More Sync Accounts (Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, Etc)
Flash 10.1 in the browser!

Problems of Note

Give it time to finish booting and load the 3G logo before starting setup. Try Wifi if the kernel's Wifi is know to work, otherwise stick with 3G.
The hardware keyboard didn't work for a few minutes after everything else was working, then suddenly it worked just find, although laggy at times.

Thanks again to Makkonen for building this Touch Pro community of Android fans!

AWESOME!!!

Cant wait for the next...

As someone stated, THANKS FOR BRINGING THE ANDROID COMMUNITY TO THE TP MAKK!!! (all other devs too)

I had the same problem. Did a little research and saw that by pressing the space bar button really hard (i.e. having the phone sit on a table and pressing down on it), you can re-seat the keyboard ribbon cable that is connected directly under the space bar.

I did it and it solved the problem for me.

I did all this and I noticed like the phone dialpad is squished into the lower left of the screen and when your moving to the other desktops going left it shows at the bottom where the slider is is also squished. But it looks fantastic and is very snappy. I am using the newest rootfs, initd and zimage modules

I was with it until now. I keep getting alternating Verizon and HTC screens, is this normal? I thought I installed correctly, twice. Maybe not. :P

It does seem that the keypad/onscreen keyboard haven't been ported over to the resolution of the Touch Pro or Blackstone. I'm sure that will be resolved shortly.

thanks for the tip, i just did it, at first i ran my old kernel and rootfs from the eclair build, and dont know but 3G data wasn't coming in, but maybe it still works, but either way i just updated my kernel and rootfs and 3g data is streaming from sprint. Also I noticed I was given an option for my dialer after updating it, and i chose to use the dialer similar to what I was using on eclair and it was proportionate and not all squised in the corner. Im just on my second boot of it and its really fast and snappier, and internet load alil faster, im gonna test it more in the next hour and report back on performance, also my keyboard input is much faster

update after a couple hours of use:
well not everything works, i mean its great but as usual certain areas like in settings crash and force close.
it is very snappy
