Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)
Ok, I have now installed the 2-8 build.
So far, WIFI is unable to start (not a big deal for me as I have unlimited data) Data works, but only after I make an APN name Android / Internet The one thing I really need is a ringtone. With both this and the 2/4 build, the only ringtone I am able to select is silent. Can anyone help me with this? |
Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)
A couple people have noted issues like this. I'm not sure where they're coming from. There are ringtones in the system file, and ringtones stored in /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones. I see them all.
As always -- try a fresh data.img with the latest files from the package in the first post, see if that fixes it. I'd love to know why, specifically, that happens, but I don't have any good ideas on how to troubleshoot it.. |

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)
ok on the 2-8 build. data works for me out the door. nothing special to it, though it did take a minute to start. still need place a call before i boot haret to have the mic work (to get the mic to work, place a call before you launch haret.exe)
did find a few bugs? though. the on screen keyboard is very sensitive. as i type, alot of letters are doubled (mm, nn, cc, etc.). i had it running for about 3 hours this morning. phone did get hot but i think it's better than previous versions. while texting, i clicked on the contact info for a message i had received and everything locked up. the battery icon was still on it's charging icon (while not charging) but i couldn't tap anything. i pressed the end button to sleep the screen but could not get it back. rebooted and my once full battery is now at 20%. still coming along guys!! |
Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)
Yes, this is strange. I can see the ringtones in that directory as well using astro file manager. They even play with the media player. Making and receiving calls is fine using the startup script to call out before booting linux.
All and all it seems quite usable other than I can't get anything more than a vibrate to notify me of an incoming phone call. Anyway, keep up the good work. Looking forward to not having to ever boot back into WM. I've been a debian user for years and do not like having win on my phone (although Energy's roms are quite nice) |
Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)
I've been following this thread for months (including the old thread before this one)... and I have been installing the builds periodically every other build or so, but they all seemed to have the same problem of crashing within the first couple minutes of running on my Alltel RAPH 800.
This latest build 2-8 is BY FAR the most stable, I haven't crashed in the almost 30 mins I've been running it.. I've installed a couple apps from the Market app, placed a call, sent and received SMS... it all works great. Albeit the known bugs (start call in WinMo, battery doesn't report correctly( charging when not), wi-fi doesn't work in this build) ... But overall I think this is THE BEST build yet... it's super snappy. I will try to use this all day to see if it works... I will probably start using this from day to day every once in a while... I'm getting real tired of WinMo, and it's comparable in buggyness... well almost :P lol .... Great Work! |
Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)
I'm getting wi-fi grief too, and it's not the kernel. I'm running the 2-8 package with the 2-4 kernel right now, so it's not makk's fault.
I also can't get 3D running. My winmo ROM runs TouchFlo 3D (it's a Calkulin rom), but android doesnt seem to pick it up. |
