Seriously!?! You haven't even installed Ubuntu, and you think you'll be able to just jump into the code?

The reason a lot of people are not working on it is - it's not easy! What do you mean "i don't mind getting paid for it" - no body is getting paid dude. That's the whole point, the devs are doing this in the FREE time.

I am basically the master of nothing. I'm not saying I know everything, I never said that.

I just help where I can. YOU just came in here with one hell of an attitude... I'm not even sure where to start with you - if you knew how to code, you obviously would not have posted that. So it wouldn't have done either of us any good to throw the code at you. All the source is there for anyone to look at / play with. I'm not going to throw it at you when you obviously don't know where to begin.

I've owned all those devices as well.

However, what this project is about has absolutely nothing to do with those devices. This project is for a Linux embedded guru basically. You would need fairly extensive knowledge of how the Linux kernel interacts with different parts of the system, and have an intimate understanding of C.

If you really, TRULY feel you can contribute something based on what I've talked about... go to #htc-linux and see if you can lend a hand.

Like I said, ALL the code is already available for free.

I'm not going to dissuade anyone from trying to get into the code. Even if you can't do anything, it's a good learning experience. I helped to write up instructions on getting a build environment working. They might be a bit outdated at this point (not sure if the external modules have changed at all), but the broad strokes should work.

Of course, having the code and knowing what to do with it are very different things. But you can't get to the latter without having the former. So, give it a shot. The worst thing that happens is you end up with a useless VM on your computer that you never use and a few hours of lost time.

Well, getting the FM Radio to work would be a miracle for the Sprint Touch Pro, being it doesn't have the H/W to do this. Been mentioned in product specs for a long time now. Diamond's do and have hacks for WM, but Sprint Touch Pro's (CDMA) DON'T have actual hardware on the devices, so that would be very difficult to support that function in software. Trust me, i've done ton's of research looking at piece's by pieces images of the broken down h/w, and specs.

Yeah I've tried to tinker with the android system I know about the linux system and kernel but I don't know C, I was hoping to take that class this semester but well it filled up too fast. Guess I could get one of those books to teach my self. I've been trying to mess with maybe writing a auto update program for XD but so far my luck isn't working out.

Great instructions. Maybe my setup is odd but I have to declare JAVA_HOME=/usr/path/to/jdk and ANDROID_JAVA_HOME=$JAVA_HOME every time i restart.. and sometimes (it needs it rarely) choosecombo command before make.

Alright well thanks I'll try reformatting the card again. Last time I tried to just use a quick format. If a regular format doesn't work then I'm stuck with WM until I buy an Evo/Epic.

It could be just incompatible cards I've never had a problem with Windows 7 format on Fat default options booting XDAndroid. Although i thought I Read that there was a update to the rootfs for the SD Card issue.

Lastly the FB Fan page is up to 800 likers so if you haven't liked it yet you should, babijoee has it set up to push notifications about rootfs/kernel updates to the page.
