Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800) - PRE-ALPHA (not yet usable)

Hi
I'm having trouble getting the mic to work. I am using the 1-17 kernel, and the 1-24 xdandroid build, on Sprint. I have the stock ROM and stock radio in place, and am making a voice call prior to booting. Wifi, Bluetooth, etc are off; data is on. (Data works just fine in android, and I can make and listen to a call.)

I have noticed that many people are rebooting, then it works. I am having some difficulty getting a soft reset - using the end key long press menu, phone shutdown doesn't actually reboot the phone, and I have to lift the battery to reboot.

I would be glad to try out a new system or kernel, or radio. Just point me in the right direction.

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800) - PRE-ALPHA (not yet usable)

MP,
My mistake was letting the voice call finish before the phone got midway into the android boot. Now I call my sprint voice mail midway into the android boot the call gets cut off.

Hope this helps

Does anyone know how to enable an on screen keyboard and maybe disable the hardware keyboard? I have a TP with a broken keyboard.

Do you have Sprint? Because most people who have a Sprint TP need to initiate a call first for the mic to work. People with other carriers may have better luck.

Hmm i tried this but then android didn't boot. weird. I will try it again a few times. Do you have to do this everytime you boot into android or will it work after you do it once?

Should be able to just slide the keyboard open and then close it. I tap the box I want to type in and the on screen keyboard comes up. I have also gotten it to open with just taping on the text box in port mode. You may have to tap twice.

few more questions. Is there a way to return to Windows without reseting the phone?

How do you completely close an app?. I press the arrow button to exit an app but when I click it, it is exaclty where I left it. Is that the 'beauty of android or am I just not closing them properly. When I hold the power button does it show me running apps or are those recently used apps?
Kind of both. There is a task killer that comes with the XDA Build. Android is supposed to keep it kind of like a hibernated type mode where it saves the app and current state to file. Its supposed to auto close apps your not using

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800) - PRE-ALPHA (not yet usable)

Can't seem to get this working. I've tried several different ways of doing this, but I've been stuck for 10 minutes now - right after an "msm_12c.0: error during data xfer" error and a "kionix-kxsd9: kxsd0 work: error -5" error. I get a "pc_clk_disable: FIXME! disabling a clock that" message and it's not doing anything.

I've cleared out the files multiple times, but no matter what the rom loader seems to hang with different errors. I don't know if this is normal or not, but it seems that even on an initial boot I shouldn't be waiting 10 minutes. I have yet to see a data.img file of any sort unless I'm looking in the wrong place.

I tried the latest files and had a different stopping place, similar to peterm's earlier.

As far as I know, I'm doing everything correctly - unzip the 1-16 files, copy to root of SD card. Remove zimage, module*, and startup.txt. Replace w/ files from 1st post. Replace *.conf file w/ renamed file from first post. Start app. That goes to the Linux bootloader, but after it gets through a certain point, it stops or appears to stop.

Am I running the wrong files? I'm trying to run this on an AT&T Fuze so I could very easily be running the wrong ones. I will admit to being confused about which HTC phone is which at times. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks.

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800) - PRE-ALPHA (not yet usable)

Wanted to chime in with my current status of android...

It's a little bit unclear who is posting what, and where it's coming from. For instance, we have the HTC wave with a set of modules/zImage/conf, and another on connect-utb, and other various links in threads to driver packs. I'm not at all complaining, because it's great to see many people working on this all at once, It just took me a while to figure out what was the most recent build..

Along with the 1-27-10 build from the XDA thread, It seems that the stuff posted on the wave on 1-27-10 works better than the stuff posted on 1-26-10 on connect UTB, stability is better, Wifi didn't work with the UTB stuff, and a download from the market crashed the phone. I'd recommend using the stuff from the wave at this point. Results with the stuff from the wave:

- Using my values of 800,875,175,675,450,575,800,175,175,175 in there fixed the screen issues, the conf file included seemed to have the old values in it.

- Upon my first boot, sound didn't work, and attempts at playing sound crashed the phone. Rebooted, and it works. Strange..

- Calling worked with no dialing issues, and the phone was good after a call. Mic didn't work, but I didn't dial out before booting, so I didn't expect it to.

- Overall stability seems OK, much better than with the connect-UTB build.

- Sleep caused the phone to vibrate every couple seconds using the wave build. Kind of annoying. Not sure why it does that.

- Screen brightness is still wonky. I'm assuming disabling it in WinMo would fix it, but I didn't do that.

- Wifi/CDMA data work. Downloaded some apps from the store with no problems. The Wifi wouldn't start in the connect UTB build, and CDMA data seemed to crash the phone.

- Overall faster, touchscreen seems a little more unstable then previously. Sorta hard to drag the notification bar down. Not bad at all, though, might just be how a resistive screen is.

So, again, just to help out people struggling, this is the combination of files that worked the best for me:

1) Official package labeled '24.01.10 NEW BUILD STRIPPED' from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=601751

2) System update labeled '25.01.10 NEW SYSTEM UPDATE:' from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=601751

3) Delete the modules/zImage/startup, and replace them with the items from the HTC wave. If you aren't on the wave, then get an invite to google wave and join the HTC wave. Search around for how to do that..

4) Edit the file 'eclair.user.conf' in the '/conf' directory, replace the string of numbers at the bottom with these:
800,875,175,675,450,575,800,175,175,175

Should help get everyone on the same page... I hope this helps!

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800) - PRE-ALPHA (not yet usable)

Just an FYI - tried that, too, but no luck. I'm off to search for how to find this HTC Wave. I've got a Wave account, but didn't know about yet another thread.
(which was on the first post, of course - just missed its significance)
