Re: Can't do a hard reset

I am having the same problem but when the phone boots up normally it never fully boots up. I am running the energy rom by CMYLXGO. Is my phone a brick?

Maybe it's not a defect. I wonder if there are more TP that can not reset using the buttons?

That is interesting ... as I understand it, the stock rom doesn't touch the bootloader, which controls the (button) functions you were trying to, and eventually used to perform the hard reset.

Best regards,

Are u saying that with the stock rom, one can not do a hard reset using the vol down, enter key (center button) and power button?
If that is the case, then it make sense that I can't do a hard reset that way. Please explain. Thanks

Re: Can't do a hard reset

is the phone powered off when you are doing this? If not the phone needs to off before doing this.

The phone is powered off before I try the hard reset with the buttons.
Only way I can hard reset is using the Clear Storage program.
The buttons don't work for me. DRJONZ has the same issue as me.
If I read BOGGSIE reply correctly, it might be because of the stock rom.
Please correct me if I am wrong someone.

I was trying to imply just the opposite. When the phone is off and you press (Vol-Down+D-Pad+Power) the ROM has absolutly nothing to do with the behavior. At that point you are interacting solely with the BootLoader (BL). You seem to have indicated that you loaded a new ROM and the behavior of the BL of your device changed ... which should not be the case.

With the power off (completely off, not in hibernate mode) you should be able to press (Vol-Down+D-Pad+Power) and get a prompt to wipe your personal information.

Best regards,
-boggsie

Re: Can't do a hard reset

On my touch pro it requires 3 hands and a foot to hard reset :P You hold down volume down, the center dpad, the power button and the soft reset button with the stylus until it gives you the prompt. I think you're forgetting the soft reset button on your attempts.

The same selections without the center d-pad gets you into bootloader mode for flashing.

I have a SPRINT stock rom (ver 2.01.651.6) and I power off (holding the power button till it says that 'power will be turned off, and you may lose data ......" ) and then tap yes. After it powers off, sometimes I wait mins or hours then I try to use the 3 buttons to hard reset. But to no avail. The TP just powers back on with the Touch Pro word then sprint splash logo, then MW 6.1, then launching TF3D then Today page. I can only reset using the CLEAR STORAGE program. Do you or anyone have any idea why I can't hard rest using the buttons? I don't seem to be the only one that can't hard reset with the 3 buttons (see several post above from DRJONZ)
