I bought the SlingBox Pro for exactly that reason.

The SB Pro has an internal tuner so it can watch a different channel than the home TV. I only get basic cable & not all the premium channels from the internal tuner, but it will watch something completely different than the home setup that way.

I do get a kick out of changing the channel remotely on my 9 year old daughter at times, I can always tell its her watching when I open Sling & the Disney channel is on...........

Haha, yea that doesn't work for me because I have a satellite tv and the signal needs the box cause it decodes the signal or something. Or do they have a new solution to this? I got my slingbox a few years ago.

Well, I'm using a box too (but it's a cable box) and I don't think it will work with satellite because one of my inputs is from the box but the other comes straight out of the wall with no box & I don't believe satellite will work that way.

That's what I thought, yea the satellite signal needs the box to be decoded. I'm too cheap to get another box for my house and hook up the slingbox to that, my friend did that to perfection. But I don't want to pay the extra monthly fee.

My daughter and I did this to my Dad when he was visiting - she and I had to go out and we had left him watching the Golf channel... then Disney... then the Golf channel...then...

Re: Live TV?

I use Slingbox solo to watch my DishTV - there is no extra box involved. The Slingbox controls the Dish receiver and the output from it (TV2) goes to the Slingbox input.
