Re: 16 GB Micro SD review thread.
None actually have 16 GB..its a tricky concept used by ALL space holding media.
its not saying that you have 16gb space its saying you got 16 gigas of bytes space aka 16gb = 16,384 mb = 16,777,216 kb = 17,179,869,184 bytes what they give you is 16 gigas of bytes = 16,000 megas of bytes = 16,000,000 kilos of bytes = 16,000,000,000 bytes thats 1,179,869,184 bytes that you don't get. (not exactly but around since flash chips are in 128/256/512/1024/2048 blocks) For magnetic and cd-rom media it is similar except they can never have EXACTLY that amount of space. That is why overburning is possible on some cds and not others. This is also why hd space varies for same drives. Flash media is exact though ----------------------------------------------------------- The brand for SD cards don't matter much, its a generic process..BUT when buying you may end up buying a fake thats being resold or etc. That said, the low I have seen for 16gb card is 35$ for class 4 and class 6 just gotta keep an eye for it.

I have seen tons of bad reviews of the sandisk junk since then. I also have two 8 gig sandisk cards. The 8 gig cards have always worked fine but their QC has gone right down the tubes with the 16 gig..... ~John |

16G Poleroid (PNY Memory) MicroSDHC card. $36.99 after rebate. Got 2. ones in the bottom of a lake with my TP and the other is in my TP2 working great. 8GB used, no lag, no issues. 900Meg movies take a sec to load in album when you are switching movies or trying to seek but other than that music and file transfers are quite speedy. Being PNY you are also getting a pretty reliable memory company. Sandisk has had a few duds that have gotten me away from them at any size. Also if amazon is correct (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002HMC78M/...SIN=B002HMC78M) This is a Class 4 card which also works as Class 2 (see the product details down on the page a bit) Either way it always transfers on my PC to phone around 2.5-3.5MBps so its not too bad.
