Yes the house phone is cordless, and they are about 25-30 feet away from each other. I may snatch up a new cordless phone during Black Friday and see if this solves the problem

Well wait... most cordless operates on the same freq., however some have a special feature that says it'll not (or close to not) interfer with wifi. Double check your new purchase has that.

Thanks for the heads up, will do. I didn't even know the feature existed!

Re: Wi-Fi Router disconnecting on incoming house call

Generally any phone above 6.0GHz won't interfere with other electronics. At least not for another 5 years!

And the microwave thing is VERY annoying around dinnertime. Especially when you're gaming over WiFi and your game lags out :P

yeah i've seen this so many times, as everyone said just make sure you change over to the 6.0 phones and you'll be good. I get service calls like this every once in a while and people are amazed when you show them.

Re: Wi-Fi Router disconnecting on incoming house call

Look for cordless phones that say "DECT 6.0" on them, they will be WiFi friendly.

Re: Wi-Fi Router disconnecting on incoming house call

Yep I have to agree. Either DECT 6.0 or 5.8GHz phones. Both should work fine and eliminate interference issues. I remember a time when I almost cried everytime the phone rang because it dropped my connection (very frustrating indeed).

Re: Wi-Fi Router disconnecting on incoming house call

You need to move the router away from the phones as far as possible.Put it up high as possible to cover as much area as you can. Then go into the routers setup and change the transmit channel to channel 11 this is unused for any telephones.
