EDIT: this does not work for me, the data does not disconnect, also when a call comes in it lets you answer but there is a 3 second delay between the time i slide accept and the call connects...
Is this still an issue or related to the "gprs" input in the code line?

Re: #777 undoing the data disconnect hack :/

giving it a whirl right now. but some questions.
1. will this affect stealth tethering?
2. im not seeing this in the programs folder...is it not supposed to be there?
3. will the hack work even if the app (like Opera) is open but is inactive? or will it terminate connection for inactivity regardless if the app is open or not?

will any of these installed on my phone affect this hack from working properly?
cmylxgo's big pimp package
manila no push internet
ssk tp2 dynamic resource proxy

***UPDATE***
regarding phone calls. just received a call from mom. tried to answer it on the first ring using the actual answer button. answering it using the phone button did not pick up call and also made the phone discontinue ringing. so that tells me that the phone thinks i answered the phone already. but if you look on the screen, it's still flashing "incoming call". had to use the slider on the screen to answer call...which brings me back to my next topic.

...CONFIRMED....
when call is answered with the slider, there's about a 2-3 second delay before the call is actually connected.

3. just tested it to see if hack will disconnect if app like opera is open but left inactive. it's a yes and no answer. no because the connection did not terminate after a minute of inactivity. the data icon was still showing on task bar. but once i closed Opera, data icon reverted back to the antenna icon. re-tried connecting to the net with opera. but this time, i closed opera to see if it would disconnect after a minute. after 5 minutes, data did not disconnect.

tried to see if the same would happen for messaging. tried to poll one of my emails. after polling was finished, closed the email. did not instantly disconnect data (like it did with opera)....in fact, did not disconnect at all after 2 minutes of waiting. same thing with using IE browser.

before installation, if i ran opera and went to a website, if i exited the browser, the data icon would still be showing on my task bar. had to do a "forced disconnect" to stop the data connection. but this hack work sooo good that as soon as i closed opera, it terminated the data connection. didn't even have to wait 'til the full minute was up!!

based on my testing on stock ROM, it only terminated connection for my Opera browser (using Opera 10b2). not for anything else that i use that needs connection to pull data to my phone.

did not experience this. when mom's call came in, i had opera up and running. but i don't know if it made the difference, but i had the opera running in the background/minimized while i was in my programs folder.

sorry for the long post guys/gals...just wanted to give detailed feedback regarding the cab that strra made.

Re: #777 undoing the data disconnect hack :/

Ok - here are my tests on a stock Sprint ROM:

1) Call answer:
*** from sleep mode & awake mode:
>> NO to answer call with phone button on 1st try
>> YES to subsequent tries with button & with slider on screen

2) Call Answer with browser on:
>> NO to answer call with phone button on 1st try
>> YES to subsequent tries with button & with slider on screen!!
>> LOST data connection in some instances!!

3) Observing data connection arrows in taskbar icons:
>> 1 min - still connected after activity
>> 2 min - still connected after activity
>> 5 min - still connected after activity
>> Forced Sleep - disconnected

4) Observing data connection arrows in taskbar icons after forced sleep:
>> UNABLE TO CONNECT to mail services
>> UNABLE TO CONNECT to weather manual update
>> UNABLE TO CONNECT Opera
>> #777 unable to dial popup on all occasion

So from my test - it appears when that the TP2 has trouble reconnecting instantaneously after a prolonged inactivity period but once out of it's hibernation it's acts as the cab intended - turning off data connection after activity & answer calls when needed.

this is unacceptable on my part esp. knowing the importance of email to me.

UPDATE:
All of my problems above were solved with this cab HERE
or THIS.

You should read the background before instituting the fix.
Hope this helps some1 trying to save some battery.

do we know what the values for SuspendResume do/mean ??? meaning - does the 58 mean suspend after 58 seconds if inactivity, etc... ??? what do these values mean ?

Re: #777 undoing the data disconnect hack :/

Okay, so are you using the #777 cab AND the cab from the first page of this thread?

Yes.

The #777 cab essentially undo's the "SuspendResume" part to #777 & fixed my broken issues.

Re: #777 undoing the data disconnect hack :/

Do you or anyone else still have problems with a delay in answering the phone with both of these cabs installed? Or is it working perfectly, i.e. your data connections times out in a timely manner AND you are able to answer your calls properly?

@ first glance - it appears the data connections is still ALWAYS ON.
I haven't had a chance to test it today yet.

The #777 seems to negates any deficiencies or benefits for me.
