What's the point of the mute button?

nothings wrong with me, whats wrong with you? he asked about the mute button and youre making it sound like that is a normal question, thats why he got picked on. nobody made him feel bad we were just joking around and even the op has no hard feelings. he is a grown man and doesnt need anybody to stick up for him. i read every posts and nobody said anything outrageous, imo. if his feelings wouldve gotten hurt i wouldve told him to grow a pair.

IMO, the mute button is pointless for me as well as for many people i'm sure. I would much rather have had and LED instead of a lame mute button. You really wanna mute the phone, turn it over and press mute on the screen. Even if you do mute it alot, still more worth the effort to turn the phone rather than sacrafice a useful LED. But each to their own. I know a lot of people gonna go off on my opinion but thats what it is, my opinion.

we are not arguing or disagrreing. we picked on the op because he acted like he didnt even know what mute was for. honestly if he knows what mute is for then all of our comments dont even matter, which is my whole point

Oh yeah...BTW, i have my mute button actually do something useful. 1 click is toggle bluetooth, 2 clicks is toggle wifi. I wish i can make it light up with 3 clicks!

I'm not trying to argue about this, but my point is the forum is here to help others understand, learn, and improve their phones. The mute button was something he merely didn't understand. He asked a question. We should just answer his question instead of dragging it out.

Remember, sometimes it can be hard to convey exactly what you mean in a post. Everyone occasionally has a question that sounds stupid when asked. This guy just wanted some clarification.

I don't know what's worse - the fact that people are making fun of him, or the fact that you are justifying making fun of him. We don't want people on this site to be scared of asking questions. Everyone has them, and its our duty to answer them. We aren't here to help people toughen up - that's what the rest of the internet is for.

The fact that the OP went along with it is great. I'm glad he wasn't offended. But many other people would be. And that, my friend, is how a flamewar starts. We don't want that to happen here.

I guess its safe to say - If you cannot answer the question without being condescending, its best not to post at all. Let someone else answer the question. We don't want to drive people away from the site.

I hope you don't feel like I'm personally offending you, p slim, I'm just trying to show you why I am thinking this way.
