Re: (SSDD) Continous reboot - Hands Free Activation?
Urrrr.... SSDD
![]() The device has been unusable for the last two days. I don't have any custom themes. I've soft resetted the device many times. No luck!! One thing I did notice is that when the phone powers up, it indicates there is "No Phone Service" (See attached image). That would explain why the "Hands Free Activation" is unsuccessful... I'm going to visit a Sprint store and see if they see something I'm missing. Very pissed off and dissatisfied... ![]() |

Re: Continous reboot - Hands Free Activation?
I've had this happen, as well. And nothing new was installed. I'd been using my phone for weeks with everything installed the way it was, and everything was working fine. Until I let the battery run completely down. Plugged it in to be recharged, and took it off when it had and turned it back on. Then it started doing this, and TF3D doesn't even load. I've had this happen to me twice before, with almost exactly the same cause. Perhaps there is some kind of NVRAM that is battery-backed up but gets corrupted somehow and stuck in some kind of Read-Only mode that the HFA can't overwrite when the battery gets too low to maintain it.
Any Devs know much about this? Is it possible there is a capacitor/battery backed up NVRAM that stores activation information that gets corrupted when power is lost and cannot be restored? |

Re: Continous reboot - Hands Free Activation?
the NV in nvram means non-volatile. in other words it doesn't need power to remember things.
more than likely tf3d hangs, cuz it knows it should die. lol.. j/k I hate tf. |

Re: Continous reboot - Hands Free Activation?
Several days??? Just reun "Restore" from the previous night's backup with SPB Backup or Sprite. You do do a nightly backup, right????

Re: Continous reboot - Hands Free Activation?
I knew that about NVRAM, but I was wondering if maybe something power-related was causing it to get corrupted. I know the PPC-6700 had nvram and wasn't supposed to lose data or settings when it went dead, unlike older phones, but when it went flat dead sometimes you'd get random weirdness for a while, but never anything as seemingly destructive as this. I've had it do it twice thus far, both times were after the phone was drained completely flat from sitting with activesynch running, in a poor area, not hooked to a charger, after nothing else had changed except running it dead. Otherwise, it is like the phone can't stand being set up for more than a couple of months at a time and as such, starts the HAF on it's own accord. Also, Opera and TF3D never start up, and the whole system is sluggish when this happens, which points to some pretty cpu-intensive activity going on as well as possible memory corruption that can only be resolved by a hard-reset, which obviously flushes the whole thing and replaces all the corrupted files with clean ones, until the system goes corrupted again. Surely, someone has a better answer?
