today I have spent around 3 hours to see if you are right , just for the sake of discussion; I unlocked my virgin TP2 , flashed Energy first.....,it took me around 25 mins to test it , then I moved to Mighty. In both ROMs I looked for the common tweaks that you have talked about .........and I did not find any registery tweak you re talking about , lets see the internet TCP window was not tweaked and was low , concurrent connections was not tweaked either . phone : quick end phone call for example left as the HTC stock to 3000 , and mannnny other s . these cooked ROMs are nice looking , fast runing , but not fully tweaked yet sir. I had to return back to my fully extensively tweaked stock ,but honestly , I liked Mighty ....it is decent , but needs some wrok , I consider it in 4-5 versions when it is fully mature . I respect your opinion ...and you have reasons to have this conclusions . thank you for the mature discussion. |

im not knocking your comparison method at all but think about it like this, you see a runner run a 100 yard dash, then you see another runner do the same thing right after him. with no timing equipment you say based on what you think that the 1st guy was faster. without any point of reference how would you really know for sure? i on the other hand saw both runners run at the same time so i can clearly see who is faster. hopefully that analogy makes sense. no problem my friend, seems 6.1 still has a pretty good following so hopefully the chefs can make u guy happy too! Re: dear chefs:nobody is willing to cook 6.1 anymore? ! the forum misses 6.1
6.5 is not buggy in any way shape or form. It is a rock solid, super fast, OS. I dunno what is wrong with the phones you have seen it on, but with WM 6.5 my phones all run faster, have more RAM free, and look better. I can back that up with benchmarking if you want as well. 6.5.1 is more buggy, but it isn't official. You don't have to run 6.5 or 6.5.1 though. As it has been pointed out, the TP2 comes with an excellent and well built 6.1 ROM. Stick with that if you don't want to progress with technology and wish to be stuck in the stylus oriented dark ages... The rest of us will be moving on.
PS. Are you still running Windows XP? Refusing to ever upgrade again because XP is the greatest OS of all time?

Re: dear chefs:nobody is willing to cook 6.1 anymore? ! the forum misses 6.1
I have tried so very hard to like the start menu/menu system in 6.5, but I simply don't. I actually really, really hate it. I even decided on getting the Sprint Touch Pro 2 over the AT&T Tilt 2 because the Tilt 2 was supposed to come with 6.5, and I feared no one would cook a 6.1 ROM for it. I, too, hope a few chefs will continue to use 6.1 as a base, so that we can get the new SenseUI and have leaner ROMs that still are 6.1. I do plan to try 6.5, once most of the kinks are worked out. The stock ROM is so functional, that I am very hesitant to unlock and flash because I dislike having things that work stop working. Then, I keep flashing different ROMs, trying to find one that doesn't have some significant flaw, but that turns out to be a waste of time. So, I am reading the chef's threads with interest to see when all the issues get ironed out. Seems like that may be a while, though.

Power management and virtual memory allocation might improve the speed of the phone a little but, but def. not enough to make it a worthy upgrade. The new start menu, a lock screen, and the other UI changes are WHY THOSE PEOPLE WERE FIRED. Because these upgrades suck, and the UI "changes you speak of" are not changes, they are giant mistakes. Re: dear chefs:nobody is willing to cook 6.1 anymore? ! the forum misses 6.1
It is what it is...some folks are justifiably comfortable with WM 6.1...many have reference XP/Vista/7...I'm sure there were folks that didn't want to upgrade to XP when that first came out. Some of us geekers I'm sure will be using XP until the day they die...because they like the O/S and knowledgeable enough to keep it working well for them.
When it comes to comparing ROMs (stock vs custom) if you're going to tweak your stock ROM...then you should do the same for the custom for the side by side. I'm quite sure that 90% of all custom ROM flashers are NOT running the "stock" ROM. They're tweaking until they're content with what they have on THEIR phone. Same reason why lots of folks (myself included) didn't buy into the whole iPhone deal because it is so CLOSED. Unlocking it can get you so far...and its NOTHING like what you can do with a PPC/Windows Phone/Windows Mobile device. Enjoy the stock ROM, but realize that your device has so much untapped potential...it just seems silly not to push it for all its worth.
