Re: Question about the keyboard sliding
Ditto what everyone else has already said, part of the packaging, safe to remove.

Remove them if you want.
However, many users including myself have gotten scratches in that area after we removed it. |

Re: Question about the keyboard sliding
Had my TP2 since early August, and both strips were fine until this week when one of them came unstuck and started rolling up when the keyboard opened. I pulled it off but damn, that's good packaging.
I've seen what a lot of you are referring to before where you simply pull out the plastic "protection" strip between two surfaces, but for the one I removed just now it was not simply slid in there as if you were meant to just pull it off. I had to tug at it to get it to come off completely. Personally I think they are on there as a basic measure of 'rub protection / easier sliding', but with an understanding that they are a cheap solution that will inevitably come off over time, and with no detriment to the sliding mechanism -other than some surface scratches that would now start to appear. Just my $0.02.
