Bought new TP2 from ebay, got activated but now Sprint said it was stolen - Page 3

if sprint deactivates the phone why should he just have a very expenive brick and not use it?? ask ur self that? i know if i was to buy a sprint device with bad esn i could and would have it activated on verizon!!(legally)

Put it like this op if u want to sell the so called stolen tp2 because sprint deactivates it i will buy it from u!! i am on verizon and will have no problem activating the phone on verizon, tmoblie, or at&t!! i got a friend on tmoblie right now that would love to have a sprint tp2 on there account!!

Ummmm, #2 is illegal too. You are suggesting that he knowingly sell a phone he knows to be stolen??? THAT is a crime!

I bought 2 phones on ebay and all was fine...I always make sure before I buy that the claim is clean ESN.

Ive had a few bad ebay transactions before but usually had no problem with filing a claim via paypal and getting a refund(not on phones other stuff)

It is always good to confirm before buying.

That said, there is a few possibilities that could have happened..example: some people claim they got 2 phones instead of 1 and decided to sell that phone. Since the phone was set to activate on his account and you activated it instead it may have sparked a flag on their end.

Another possibility would be similar scenario where he had the phone on his line, and you activated it so now he has no phone on his lined which sparked a red flag.

Since the seller is willing to communicate though that doesn't seem like its physically stolen.

Either way..once you activated it, I don't think sprint can just deny you mid way

Maybe because the person it was stolen from deserves to get it back???

When something is stolen from you and it is recovered, it is still yours and you can get it back. If the loss is covered by insurance, then the stolen item becomes the property of the insurance company.

I not sure that anyone is going to take the phone back in this case, but a couple posters are totally missing the point of what happens with stolen property. Hopefully, Sprint will do the right thing here. It's unfortunate to the person that buys the stolen property, but unfortunately they become the victim and get left holding the bag.

I dont want to return the phone. I am going to play nice with the Sprint fraud guy tomorrow.

I just dont want Sprint to switch off my phone few months later. Can they do that?

Sprint is not going to take your phone and you are going to be able to keep it activated. The fraud dept called you because as someone previously stated, the seller claimed the phone stolen and received a replacement (which they may have kept or sold as well) for it. When a claim is filed if the owner gets the phone back they are required to send it asurion since they have received a new phone. When the seller called sprint to remove the lost/stolen flag it was evident that fraud was taking place. The fraud dept is going to investigate the seller not you. I used to work in a corp Sprint store and saw this happen a couple times.

I see. I'll find out more tomorrow when the fraud dept call me.

I notice the seller now make his feedbacks private. Before that I was able to see a list of users comment about him.

He did sell 2 new HT2 phones, mine and someone else that didnt have a problem and the seller got a + feedback for it.

His feedback score had gone from 66 to 64. 2 feedbacks taken away.
