Interesting - you're right, the changes I made didn't 'stick.' Why would this be?

I usually prefer to know what's going on behind the scenes, and would prefer to put in the specific changes that work for my particular needs, rather than an entire set that may or may not be what I want. That's the main reason I didn't just install the whole .cab file.

What does the .cab file do that changing the settings in Opera:config doesn't do? Could I just manually edit the opera.ini file directly?

Is the list you provide on your first post comprehensive, or are there other changes made, but not mentioned?

Finally, if I install your cab, but for whatever reason want to go back, what is the reversal or uninstall process, and is this complete?

Thanks again for your efforts here.

I am not sure why the settings are not sticking on the TP2. This has been discussed in other threads, but I have had no luck.
If you edit the Opera.ini file in Windows/Opera9 and place it back in and soft reset your settings should stick.
I have made other various improvement tweaks that are not listed in the first post. What you can do is make a backup of your current config file, then install my .cab. If for some reason you dont like it just replace it with your old one. The uninstall should work too.

Thanks.

Before you posted, I went ahead and took a look at the opera.ini file, and saw the various settings. I figured that is where the 'action' is in terms of modifying opera's behavior.

Is Opera.ini the only file that is edited by your cab file? If so, then yeah, it would be quite easy to reverse if I needed to.

While I'm at it, I think I might figure out how to look inside the various cab files that are posted, to see just what it is they're doing behind the scenes.

Thanks again.

Re: Opera tweaks cabbed up for you!!!!

OK, this has been interesting. I was able to use the expand command to unpack the files in the opera tweaks cab, and viewed one of the files in Notepad, and sure enough, it's a version of opera.ini with the various tweaks applied.

Some of these are fairly self-explanatory, but others are more obscure (at least to me). I did want to note that there are several Sprint-specific references in there. Now I don't know if that would create problems on a Verizon TP2, but did want to document this.

Is there anywhere I can go where it gives an item-by-item description of the various tweaks of Opera's performance and behavior?

At this point, I'll probably just edit opera.ini myself, to apply those things I want and can understand, and keep learning more about it.

FWIW.

Thanks. I had actually come across this a day or so ago, and it does contain much useful information. It does seem to refer mainly to the Desktop version, as I don't find reference to the various settings unique to the Mobile version.

They must have that somewhere as well - I'll keep searching!

What are the "Speed enhancements" you did, specifically?

Here are some of the tweaks that will be installed:

-Zoom Slider Maximum=600
- Minimum Overview Zoom=85 (allows you to click on links without zooming in first)
-Raised Cache to 10000
-Maximum allowed tabs=9
-Various speed tweaks including turbo mode.
-Full desktop browsing enabled (Will go to full webpages rather than mobile pages.

-For those that would like to try this with Opera 9.7, drop the attatched opera.ini file into the proper Opera 9.7 folder.(untested).

**Soft reset after installation**

-Please give me some feedback/ or other suggestions on how this works for you.

Thanks is appreciated, enjoy!!
I did these changes, manually. Now it won't zoom when I click on it. Hmm...

Re: Opera tweaks cabbed up for you!!!!

I also have the zoom problem, and I was using the verizon home page which now no longer loads. I tried un-installing and soft-resetting without any effect. Anyone know how to get back to the initial settings?
