Screen lock/unlock using PROXIMITY sensor -
Hi folks -
I know there have been a LOT of posts re: finding a suitable solution to lock/unlock our devices (in order to avoid accidental screen presses while the phone is in a pocket or pouch). Some people favor PocketShield, but I've had no luck with it (light sensor is just not sensitive enough to unlock my device a lot of the time - I know this is a known issue for TPs). I've also found programs such as S2U2 to be somewhat unreliable and inefficient. Currently I'm using a combination of cabs to unlock my device without much trouble (this is the best solution I've found - discussed here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...70&postcount=6). But I had this idea: What if somebody could find a way to use the proximity sensor to lock/unlock the device? Now THAT would be fantastic! If this could be done (for example): as soon as you would put the device in your case (or pocket), it would lock up automatically. Otherwise it would stay unlocked (when it's on your desk, for instance). This would be similar to how Blackberrys lock/unlock (except better, as those devices rely on magnets sewn into cases/pouches). I've searched for this type of solution high and low, but haven't found anything yet. Anyone else? Any brilliant developers want to take this on? |

I didn't like PocketShield either. Maybe I didn't give it enough chance, but it seemed to introduce other issues, probably with some other software, can't remember. I when back to the factory lock

You must live / work in a fairly bright place. My TP2 senses '0' lumens in my living room unless I point it directly toward a lamp (or something bright), so PocketShield is no good for me (and many others, as I found through my forum searching). Glad it works for you, but it doesn't work reliably for everyone depending on lighting conditions. Regardless; the proximity sensor idea would be even more reliable. After all, PocketShield doesn't help when you're trying to turn on your phone outside/in a car after dark. |

the light sensor to unlock feature on pocketshield is awesome, but i can't stand how PS looks. it needs a bit more polishing.

I also like pocketshield. There are many other ways to unlock your phone within the program. You can select as many of them as you like. 1 that i use for dark rooms is gester. Flip screen away and then back towards you and it unlocks. Very quick and no button to look for that way.

I liked Pocket Shield too. But it was way too "buggy" It messed with my phone features and my dialer and I just dumped It. I liked how it looked because it went along with my Raiders look. lol. I used the picture in my sig. as the background for PS.

Re: Screen lock/unlock using PROXIMITY sensor -
Maybe PS works for me because of the way I have the options set.
I uncheck EVERYTHING in the phone screen so all it does is lock/unlock, give notifications & nothing else. I can't imagine the light sensor not working for anyone, mine will unlock in almost no light at all(I calibrated it that way) & if it's really dark I just slide my finger down the screen. There about 8 other ways it will unlock also, it just depends what settings you choose. ~John |

I liked it... don't get me wrong.
Do you have the purchased version or the one you download from their site? That might make a difference. p. |
