Why is the CMDA TP2 gimped?

I thought about this recently and am becoming very upset. We have no FM radio. Our conference call ability is severely limited. Our video recording resolution/ability is probably half of the GSM version; I dont even consider my self able to record video because its so bad. The camera sucks though I am not sure if the GSM version fares any better. Damn, even the origianl design, color scheme, back cover looks better. I am sure that I am forgetting a few things. The only advantage we gained was that we got a 3.5 earphone jack. Dont get me wrong, I love my TP2 and think its the best phone in the US but I feel like I bought/received half of the original. Why would they advertise all of these business features such as the conference call ability and then gimp it, then I am not getting the phone you advertised. Just my thoughts; anyone agree?

The conference calling isn't limited just because someone wanted to gimp it. The CDMA standard doesn't allow for more than a three-way call from what I understand. And the design is really just a personal preference. I don't have time to comment on the rest of that since I'm posting from my phone.

First let me say this, its CDMA, 2nd, our phones are not "Gimped" entirely. I agree that they are not up to par with the GSM models. However, this is a major step in quality and design over our original touch pros. I dislike the color scheme as well but hey, you gotta give a little to take a little.

I'm surprised verizon didn't gimp the tp2 like they did the tp now that you mention it.

Re: Why is the CMDA TP2 gimped?

It could be worse. My gimped TP has half the ram of the regular TP's and GPS was disabled until recently.

That certainly was a pleasant surprise.

When I was using a TP, I had to hack the Sprint versions to run on VZ just to get a decent phone.

I was fully expecting the VZ TP2 to be the same way, when it came out as the exact same hardware as the Sprint & also $200 cheaper than Sprint, I was dumbfounded.......

Re: Why is the CMDA TP2 gimped?

You do know most of your complaints have nothing to do with the phone itself and everything to do with CDMA capability. The cameras are identical as far as I know and the color scheme is just colors not capability, big whoop. Your only valid complaint is lack of radio, which I'm not entirely sure has been confirmed as definitely not useable. Add to that the 3.5mm jack which a ton of people were dying for and the ability to use cdma AND gsm, and I'd say we are on par if not ahead of the GSM models in features most care about.

Thanks, for your feedback guys. I guess you made valid points related to the fact that many of the limitations are inherently grounded in the CMDA technology. I guess you really can't have it all as I am very satisfied with my phone. Just execising my grass is always greener principles...

Do not take this the wrong way, but if you wanted to have the ungimped tp2 you can have it, it would just cost way more to get it lol.
