The camera sucks though I am not sure if the GSM version fares any better. Damn, even the origianl design, color scheme, back cover looks better. I am sure that I am forgetting a few things. The only advantage we gained was that we got a 3.5 earphone jack. Dont get me wrong, I love my TP2 and think its the best phone in the US but I feel like I bought/received half of the original. Why would they advertise all of these business features such as the conference call ability and then gimp it, then I am not getting the phone you advertised. Just my thoughts; anyone agree?
1)FM Radio dosent work with most CDMA Providers because they cant charge money for it fairly.
2)Confernce Calling isnt something that is done to often on a cell phone. And as someone said more then three people is kinda of stretching it...
3)Its a cell phone...sell it for a camcorder if your that disappointed.
4)3.5 Headphone Jack is a big nice thankyou gift that you should be thankful for.

You bought a great phone and it is not gimped whatsoever! The VZW Touch Pro is gimped!

Don't forget the CDMA TP2 has both CDMA and GSM cell radios. You can use a CDMA TP2 on GSM, you can't use the GSM model on CDMA. So if anything you could argue that the GSM model is "gimped" when it comes to cellphone functionality.

As for FM radio, you can stream hundreds of FM stations over the data connection....I'll take that any day over trying to pull in a broadcast FM signal over a headphone cable.

so true, just not a true GSM, I think that 3.5mm headphone jack will come in handy if I dont have my bluetooth headset with me.

I think this is why the VZW model is nowhere to be found... it is more of a world phone than the GSM-only versions, because you can enjoy CDMA 3G here and GSM 3G when traveling.

That combined with the all-black sleek look caused VZW to release a winner.

Re: Why is the CMDA TP2 gimped?

Our phones don't make that buzzing sound when we get a text message.

That's reason enough for me.

Re: Why is the CMDA TP2 gimped?

The only way it is gimped is FCC regulations regarding CDMA and domestic GSM roaming and the FM radio. As for confrence, you have a half-valid point. CDMA2000 EvDO Rev.A can't handle it (Rev.B can, as it uses channel bonding), but we DO have UMTS (W-CDMA, GSM) capability on our phones, so we could technically use the conference feature when using GSM mode, but I'm not sure the software on the phones has it included.

Re: Why is the CMDA TP2 gimped?

I have a Verizon TP2. Before it, I was using a Verizon TP. I don't have a single complaint. Everything on this phone is a huge improvement. I have improved speed on both application usage and web usage. Battery life on my
TP2 is almost double what I was actually getting on my TP. The display is beautiful. Even the keyboard has been improved. And let us not forget the 3.5mm headphone jack and available GPS from the get-go (no unlocking necessary).
