Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

Finally got my phone replaced - on my 4th one.

Original Sprint store refused to replace my device, claiming that it was cosmetic.

The 2nd Sprint store replaced it, but acted really confused. They asked questions such as, "Did you keep it in a case?", "Did you use a screen protector?"

Didn't realize we weren't suppose to use cases or screen protectors...

HTC has the worst QA.
Next phone I get will be Samsung.

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

So my screen started with the rainbow banding about two months ago. I took it into Sprint a month ago and they said it was only a cosmetic issue.

Today my touch screen stopped working. I took it back to Sprint. They agreed to order me a replacement phone. I should get it next week.

Here is my question....how do we stop this from happening? The guy at Sprint said to be careful about pressure on the screen. I'm guessing keeping it in my pocket isn't good for the phone.

Is there a case I can use to protect it?

No, your pocket is likely a no-no. I got a case supposedly for it but it turned out to really be for the Mogul, and I think a few ebayers are doing that. Should not be snug. imho.

The only ways to prevent this is to avoid putting too much pressure on the digitizer and try to keep your device away from extreme heat.

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

Someone in another post said all they did was pull up the digitizer by putting a fingernail by the speaker, and repositioned it so that it wasnt bowing into the phone. Has anyone else tried this? I want to try it, but eventually when my screen craps out. Currently its working fine. BTW, never have had it in my pocket, never, without a case, and even when driving, I've had it on the seat to prevent pressure on the screen, yet somehow, I have the rainbow crap.

Oh, and they said that the screen is only secured by a glue thats like rubber cement, so its pretty easy to move.

Yes I read that post. I've also read posts by folks trying to replace their digitizer and having great trouble getting it off... I guess ymmv... dunno!

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

Yeah, idk, so if i end up having no ability to do anything with the screen, I will maybe use a heat gun and try to reposition it. otherwise, I'm not trying it till i need it. i dont want to screw up anything up unless i have no other choice.

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

Well.

My refurbished unit lasted ALMOST 3 months before the rainbow banding again

My main concern is the screen eventually not responding... I don't want this to happen before my phone is out of warranty. I also can't upgrade to a better phone without paying an extra $20/mo .......
