Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

I had the "oil slick" on my TP1 screen... but it went away after a few minutes the only time I ever noticed it, have you guys seen this come and go at all or is it permanent for you?

Mine just started having this issue. It comes and goes but I've been noticing it more recently.

That it into a (non corporate) repair store...they are not allowed to open a tp2 and they just order you a new one!

My Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 has a strip of rainbow banding in the middle of the LCD. I took it to my local Sprint repair center. They looked at it for 30 seconds. They said that since the phone still functions the issue is only cosmetic. I tried to explain that people online were saying it gets worse and then the digitizer stops working. They said to bring it back when the digitizer stops working.

Has anyone had success calling Sprint customer care and having them replace your phone? I do not have insurance.

Please share your experiences.

Just saw a note in another thread indicating this is caused by moisture somehow getting under the digitizer membrane. At least two individuals had good luck gently prying up the digitizer and letting it dry out. The "oil slick" (can anyone say that now without thinking about the Gulf coast?) went away and the digitizer started working again.

Anyone care to try? Anyone without any warranty left, that is....
Already swapped mine out under warranty for this same issue.

I got a refurbished phone to replace mine yesterday and was taking the screen protector off my old phone that is being replaced. I've had the phone for almost a year now and never noticed the oil slick on the screen until after the screen protector was off. I have the Zagg Invisible Shield and apparently it was masking this under the screen. Going to use the new unit for a little bit now to see if this shows up on it too before putting a replacement screen protector on it.

Well, this is the 4th time this has showed up on my phone. The 1st time repaired, 2nd time refurb, 3rd time NIB....

This is getting annoying..
Called 3 differnt stores and CS today. CS told me they have never heard of this issue, and that there is nothing they can do, not even a replacement. 1 store told me to bring it in and have it looked at, and the other two told me it is a known issue and there is nothing they can do.

Gotta love Sprint!

I agree with this. I've lost a couple lcd's on other electronics due to heat. Mainly the car
