Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

I had a screen protector on my first phone that had this issue.

The problem with screen protectors is that you will still be able to get it, yet the banding will not be noticeable until you lose all functionality of your screen. This happened to me.

With the screen protector on, you cannot see it beginning. In my case, one day my touch screen no longer responded, so I removed the screen protector and could very clearly see the banding. With the protector on, I could see no visible signs, yet with it off, it was very clear to me that the rainbow banding was present. At that point, the screen would no longer work and I had to take it in for a replacement.

Well there are a few variables to that though...

It's entirely possible that which screen protector you use matters. They are most definitely not all created equal. Maybe the one you had wasn't capable of preventing this, while a Zagg is?

It's also entirely possible that you had a different issue altogether the first time. Maybe the screen stopped working for some other issue, and when you removed the screen protector it actually caused the rainbow problem.

You just never know. All I know is I have had 2 different Touch Pro 2s now, continuously, since June or July. My wife and kids have also had Touch Pro 2s continuously since October. None of us have ever used a case. My wife keeps hers in her purse, my kids and me keep ours in our pockets. And out of those 5 units, I have never seen any problems with any of the screens.

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

my gfs is starting to get this. took it to a corp, store i always have good luck at. that day though they tried to tell me it was from leaving it in a hot car. its been winter for 8 months here. its just starting to warm up where im at. i lol'ed at him and said she keeps it in a holster, as i had 2 on my belt since i was taking hers in for her. anyway, they offered a refurb, but i held out. i didnt want to inherit someone elses problems. hers has never been unlocked or tampered with. i may try a differnt store in a few days to see if i can get new in box.

I dont know if you will get anything different from a different store. I saw that you are with Sprint. I know with Verizon, I got told there is no way that I could get a new phone or switch to a different phone. They used to have a policy where if you had 3 problems (3 different phones replaced), then you could switch devices. The VZW guy told me that "they did away with that policy months ago." Good luck with a different store, hope it works out for you

ANDROID) and we will no longer have this problem.
well, the nexus one is having a problem with small cracks in the screen due to pressure (google thinks it is pocket related), that have caused the lcd's to bleed out.
these screens are pressure sensitive, they should not be put in a place where there is constant pressure on the screen (i.e. your pocket).

Screen protectors have nothing to do with causing it. Its just harder to see if you have the banding with a screen protector on

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

After 6 or 7 months I just noticed it on mine. It's pretty small and right above the sense 2.5 weather icon on the home page. The screen still works fine, though. Given that some people get it almost immediately I'm actually surprised mine hasn't had a problem until now. I always keep it in my pocket when not at home, have taken it into the bathroom during a shower (waiting for an important call!) several times, and I've left it on the car charger with GPS running and screen on in pretty hot weather. I hope it doesn't spread and that the touchscreen doesn't stop working!

i wasnt looking for a different phone. i just wanted a new tp2 instead of a used tp2. i called 2 stores, who both said yes, they had refurbs. the 3rd store i called said they did not have any refurbs in stock, so thats the one i went to. when they said they would order a refurb, i just politely reminded themi was a long time customer who couldnt deal with this while i waited a week for them to order it, so they opened a brand new tp2 and gave it to me on the spot.
qmeli, y would i want to get a different phone, tp2 is the best phone in sprints current line up. what would i ask for, a pre or a hero? lol. talk about a downgrade.
