Re: HTC touch pro 2 newbie first time help / advise please

Congrats! I used to be a palm O/S user years back. I have been a Win Fan since 1991 so moving to the Win Mob was a gimmi.

1.) Load the Window ActiveSync software that comes with the Handset. I would also Utilized the Outlook Contact & Calendar features. This will make transfering items from your Pro 2 to the next Window Mobile Phones that you will get (Just ActiveSynce: All Contacts, Dates & Task will be loaded onto the new Handset device at that time)

2.) Once you have established an ActiveSync you will now be able to see the Storage Card on your PC directory, only during the active connection.

Easy file transfer from any directory on your PC. Download to a certain directory, desktop or where ever. I have a mobile directory for my Pro 2. This will make easy transfer of all mobile files & Apps at one time.

You can also Bluetooth transfer your filles.

This is how I transfer my files and Apps to my mobile device: Main & SD storage

as far as loading all the apps/games on the micro crad how do you suggest i do that ?? do i need to create a folder on the card or it will do itself ?
or i need to reformatt on the phone old time plam user for 10 years it going to be hard getting use to WM..

so best way to load apps on the phone ?? copy paste the cab files to folder on sdcard ??

You can set up folders on the sd card itself, I typically set up a folder for cabs, pics, etc. I usually d/l cabs to my pc into a folder and then transfer them to the phone by usb cable or bluetooth, whichever is more convenient at the time. put them into the cab folder on sd card, and then click it to load it using your file explorer on the phone. And welcome to Win Mo!! I'm still a noob myself, it's my second WM phone, but these guys here will help you out amazingly!!

personally, i find it easier to just use a sd card reader and copy paste things to the card. active sync/winmo device center gives me lots of problems so i try to avoid it.

you will need to create folders if you want to keep the cabs as backups, which i recommend. that way if you have to hard reset or flash a rom you don't have to use your computer to load up your programs again. when you click on the cab to install the program, it will create folders for the program on the device or sd card, whichever location you choose.

Re: HTC touch pro 2 newbie first time help / advise please

I'm on Vista and use the Winmo device center and have never had a problem, but the card reader also works well. As far as which ones, I have a couple, one that acts like a flashdrive w/ the sd card. Keep in mind you can also use bluetooth. There's a thread on here somewhere about the different ways to transfer the data to your card, there's many different ways, so you should be able to find one that fits well for you. And definately back up your contacts, etc, as you may be doing hard resets throughout, some tweaks may not work well with others and you dont want to lose your contacts, etc. Save copies of cabs also! Good luck!

Your Activesync must not be loaded properly. I have never had a problem using Activesync. I started with the 6700, Pro, & now the Pro 2. I can Sync all three phones with my PC updating the Calendars, Contacts, Tasks & files.

Besides, who wants to remove the troublesome backcover to remove the SD card to put into the SD card reader. That sounds like to much work.

Trust me Syncing or Bluetooth is quicker and easier.

I am Syncing twice daily (Excel, Word & Powerpoint files)

My $.02 Cents

Good Luck!
