Re: Should I keep my Tp2 or...
One thing that's always affected my choice of anything is knowing that if a product is targeted at businesses it's going to have better reliability and/or build quality than something that is not. It's why I bought a Thinkpad instead of an XPS, it's why my last Blackberry (a Curve 8300) had an unrepairable trackball issue, and it's why I got the TP2 instead of the Pre. Since the Pearl, Blackberry's been putting out phones to appeal to the masses, and their reliability has dropped.
Businesses make large orders. If 30% of a line of laptops targeted to gamers have issues, the gamers deal with it through the warranty and it's not critical that they lose their gaming machines for a week or so. If the same thing happened to a line of laptops targeted to businesses, it would result in a huge productivity loss to the businesses and the subsequent decision to buy from a different manufacturer in the future.
If I'm getting a computer or phone and I can't choose each individual component and put it together myself like I can with a home PC, I will always go with something targeted more to business users and businesses. I've been burned by reliability issues almost every time I haven't (only counterexample is an LG slider feature-phone that put up with stuff that would have destroyed most phones and lasted 4 years besides...had it for 2.5 years before retiring it, then it came out of retirement a bit over a year later when my Blackberry decided it didn't like its trackball or any replacement I tried).
