Re: How to get iGo8 run on TP2 with TTS enable and 2009 NA Maps (step by step guide)

Hi,
Finally i installed igo successfully. I have the following concerns.

Though my tts is working and sys file got the following entries, it still does not say street names.
always_say_road_names=1
announce_street_name=1

when i rotate screen, i am facing the same problem as rete (I end up with the undesirable situation of having half the screen displayed and the other half cut off), however i do want the rotation.

And another thing strange is even though I90 is there and is fastest, route option does not consider it. I have checked and toll roads is checked.

please advise.

Unfortunately, iGO8 doesn't support screen rotation once it has started; you have to decide before starting up if you want to run in portrait or landscape. At least iGO8 by default "resists" the screen rotation by (unless you have the driver="GDI" line in sys.txt).

So the best you can do is to remove the line from your sys.txt file, and the application will remain in it's startup mode regardless of opening and closing keyboards.

Are you sure you have tts working? The difference between tts and regular voice is that tts says the street names and regular voice does not.

Go into you settings - regional and see if the voice selected says TTS in the selection. If it doesn't then you don't have a TTS voice selected.

As far as the screen rotation, maybe someone else will chime in, but with mine if you rotate the program while in use it will mess up the display. I use a program called Gyrator2 that rotates the screen and also lets you configure a program so that it will not rotate. I have set iGO8 to not rotate, then in the iGO8 settings I set it to use sytem settings. That way if I want portrait I simply start the program with my phone in portrait mode, or if I want landscape I start it in landscape mode.

I don't open the keyboard while using iGO8 because it will mess up the display for me every time. I tried the fix that rete suggested but it doesn't effect mine, if I open the keyboard regardless of the mode I am in it rotates the screen.

You may have reference the incorrect window title or program name for iGO. Your setting in Gyrator is still not disabling the the rotation for this program. Do you have Gyrator set to rotate globally or manila (possible). I haven't used this program in a long time since I started putting in my own reg edits for rotation.

So the TTS problem is one thing, but also no one knows what is causing TTS not to work?

I had iGO8 running fine on my Touch Pro, What could have possibly changed?

I want iGO to run like it was before I tried that Mortscript thing and couldn't even get it to work and is such a hassle.

My TTS worked flawlessly from day one. I've got push internet disabled (with the NoPushInternet_v2 cab floating about) and I never have issues with iGO8 and TTS, even with Manila running. Make sure you have the 4 dll's in the main folder (LoqEnglish6.9.dll, loqmsx.dll, LoqTTS6.dll, LoqTTS6_util.dll), the tts_loq folder and your tts voices in the content/voice folder and that's it...

Whoa, I think this might be why my TTS has never worked, I do not have any of those .dll files! Is it okay for you to attach those to a post?

For reference, I am using version 8.3.4.117940 with diMka WertVRV 1.1.33 skin running in high.res mode (highres=0; vga=0). Once mine is started (since I removed driver="GDI" from [rawdisplay]), if I open or close the keyboard the screen briefly flickers off-on but stays in it's startup mode (portrait or landscape).

Re: How to get iGo8 run on TP2 with TTS enable and 2009 NA Maps (step by step guide)

thanks rete for the information. i guess i need to stay with resolution then.

about tts, i have installed the tts voices of susan, dave and all available from the megaupload link in this thread, i checked as suggested and when i click on susan or dave, it just beeps once and does not say 'have a safe trip'.

Could it be the files i am using? can anyone please suggest the location of files so that i can download again and try. thanks so much for your help.
