Re: How to get iGo8 run on TP2 with TTS enable and 2009 NA Maps (step by step guide)

I got this working fairly well on my HTC Touch Pro 2. Only problems I experience seem to be:

1) The GPS cannot be found sometimes when I minimize (hide) Igo8. It will work fine, then I will hide Igo8 to do something else (make a phone call) and a good 50% of the time when I go back to Igo8 the GPS is disconnected. Searching for the GPS doesn't even work, I usually have to completely reboot Igo8.

2) It seems to lose my settings a lot, but it's simple stuff like which skin I was using. Any idea why this is?

3) Finally, I noticed I could minimize (hide) Igo8 and no task manager or whatever can see Igo8 running even though it is. This is incredibly strange to me. Anyone know why this is?

What advantage is using the skin compare to just using whatever is default?

I cant get my backlight setting to save. It always default to full bright on the daylight. The nighttime setting is fine.

Try to use iGO8 with my AStroGPSLauncher, you shouldn't get the issue below. I believe I tested it.

Try playing with this in sys.txt

[power]
backlight_day=100
backlight_night=50
backlight_slow_api=1
backlight_sync_with_OS=0
battery_warning_limit=10
powermgm_state=0

Thank you. Where can I get all the info on the sys.txt and things I can modify? This look like a .cfg file.

So it read this file and overwrite whatever you are setting on the device?

This is very confusing. I guess the .txt file takes precedence.

You know chong, my googlefu is lacking. I've searched over and over for that very information, and can only find examples of others sys.txt file. I've just started collecting snippets of them and then test it on my TP1 and now TP2 to get an idea of what they do.

I posted my sys.txt earlier in this thread, but here it is again if you want to take a look at it. It is running on a Sprint TP2 with the stock ROM. The file is read on program initialization. You can override the settings from the application, but these are the settings at initial load.
