Re: "Full QWERTY keypad replaced by "Phone keypad." Help!

Ok, installed and did a soft reset. I'm not sure how to try to trigger the problem though. About to head to work for the day without good internet access, so I'll let you know if it occurs at all today when I get back home. Thanks!

Anyway, the most precise way to fix it is as chachy posted above, OR by using a registry editor to change the "CurrentET9Style" value located at HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\IME back to 0 instead of 1, 2, or 3.

Incidentally, I'm on a crusade this week to see if this can't be remedied. Who knows if I'll be successful or not, but I figure it's worth a shot.
I think I posted this in your original clean-up thread, which prompted your crusade. However, my "CurrentET9Style" value is set to 0 and this is still occurring in my calendar. Let me know if I can give you any info from my current set-up to help you out. Thanks again for all the work you do!

Weren't you stuck in the phone-style keyboard permanently? You installed that Classic Word Completion cab, and said that it resolved the problem, but that when you uninstalled it your phone keypad was back. Therefore you reinstalled it to fix the problem.

Therefore provided you uninstalled the Classic Word Completion cab first, then installed the new cab (FixStuckTP2Keyboard), you should not see the phone keyboard anymore....except where it's supposed to appear. GoodThings2Life pointed out earlier that it normally appears in the Calendar date field when creating a new appointment. This is true, but when you tap off that field to a different field, the normal keyboard should appear. That would be a good test.

Re: "Full QWERTY keypad replaced by "Phone keypad." Help!

You're correct on the chronology. I uninstalled the word completion cab, installed the new cab you gave me, and just did the test in calendar... unfortunately the problem is still occurring. i am going to uinstall/uninstall the word completion cab to get it back to normal and then try not to tap the date field!

edit: installing/ uninstalling word completion cab followed by soft reset didnt work! reinstalling your keyboard fix cab now...and im back to the correct keyboard. trying to trigger the problem in calendar and...oops, back to the messed up keyboard. back to step one and then im going to leave it alone for awhile...

Well hold on there... don't misunderstand me... it's ALWAYS going to happen with Calendar and Opera, no matter what you currently do, and the issue isn't going to magically go away. I'm just saying that is the value that is changed by those programs, so restoring it to 0 will always (and immediately without soft reset) switch it back to full QWERTY... just don't screw with the other settings that have been documented.

Incidentally, this bug isn't as noticeable with T9 enabled, but it still exists. It's just a little more self-correcting in most cases.

Re: "Full QWERTY keypad replaced by "Phone keypad." Help!

@twodomes: GoodThings2Life clarifies this really well below. This fix isn't intended to get rid of the phone keyboard where it was already intended to pop up e.g. in the date field of the calendar. It was supposed to help those who had somehow triggered this keyboard and couldn't get rid of it no matter what they switched to or tried to change. If you move off the date field in a calendar appointment and your proper Rhodium keyboard appears, then you DON'T have a problem. Sorry for not being clearer on this before now.

Thanks really need to go to GoodThings2Life and not me if this works. My original cab included another registry key:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e001 0409

where I reset "Ime File" to "windowseT9ime.dll" and "Layout Text" to "eT9 IME".

I then added his "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\Ime" setting as well when he posted it earlier in this thread. That cab includes all of those changes.

So, if I get stuck in phone dialer and go into the regedit and my value is still set at 0...then what? I have never been able to get back to a QWERTY w/o uninstalling and re-installing the clean-up. I did lose the word completion and went back to T9 and it seems to be happening less frequently now.

FYI... it's supposed to be et9ime.dll not windowset9ime ... that file doesn't exist.

Now that's strange. I actually exported those two values from that key and that's where the windowset9ime came from. I've just checked again and now they're et9ime as you noted. What gives with this keyboard stuff??? Thanks for the info. I'll update that cab accordingly.

Re: "Full QWERTY keypad replaced by "Phone keypad." Help!

ok, then I'm not clear what your cab does Covkid66... I installed the latest version, and as GoodThings2Life noted, the error still occurs (i move off the date field and am still stuck with the phone dialer keypad). Am i supposed to reinstall your cab every time it happens to fix it? Confused...
