Sprint TP2 Owners who use an Exchange Server, need help please...

All,
i am having issues with a exchange and want to ask some questions to those who use an exchange server with the company you work for..

first off, are you having any issues getting your email pushed? does the connection stay open and shows "connected" on the Async page? and im concerned with OTA use not tethered to a computer..

do you have a Async icon showing in your running programs when your using exchange?

Re: Sprint TP2 Owners who use an Exchange Server, need help please...

I just got my Touch Pro 2 last night, got it to sync with exchange just fine, its pushing through no problems.

Active Sync will not show up in the running programs, if its set up right it all gets pushed to your phone and you don't have to constantly hit the sync button.

This is going to sound silly but do you have the internet set up on your phone? once you have that and Active sync set up correctly it should be seamless.

Did you have a phone previously to this one setup on exchange? if so go check your old phone settings to make sure they are the same thing, and if you require a Certificate that its install.

I use push mail with Exchange. The only problem I have is that i have to perform a soft reset on my phone after disconnecting it from my laptop before the "push" will work.

Re: Sprint TP2 Owners who use an Exchange Server, need help please...

thanks so far . i just need to know if you see the icon on the running programs.. on the old TP1 it was there. yes the phone is set up as it should be to get the exchange to work. i have done a lot more than i need to post here but i just wanted to know form sprint owners if they are getting push/exchange to work wireless.. and i mean once you get mail in your box its sent to your phone instantly. for this i mean having it set to "as items arrive" and not set to anything else..

basically im trying to see if this phone is defective.. i dont see that being the case but after a hard reset and ONLY entering my exchange server and nothing else, im not getting push to work...

No, the ActiveSync icon should only be showing when you connect it to a computer for syncing. Make sure that you go into the menu, tools, manage folders & have the folders you want to sync with exchange checked.

Also make sure you go into settings on the TP for Push (ActiceSync) and set up the scheduling & options for what you want to sync.

Re: Sprint TP2 Owners who use an Exchange Server, need help please...

yeah all of that has been done. i never had an issue with this on my TP1...

so i dont think the phone has a ROM issue.. perhaps there is some registry entry thats mangled.. just now the phone synced at 12am so its hit or miss as to whats happening....

Are you scheduling the PEAK and OFF PEAK times for As Items Arrive?

Mine was default to off peak syncing every 2 hours.

I'm pretty sure this has to do mostly with DNS routing. If you 'sync' connected to the laptop, there's a good chance you're using an internal IP to the Exchange server - and the stupid phone caches that. When you disconnect, you need to use the external IP of the Exchange server.

I have the same problem, so I tend not to use ActiveSync with my laptop - instead I use OTA Activesync and MyPhone to back it up.

Re: Sprint TP2 Owners who use an Exchange Server, need help please...

northern,

you make an interesting post. however i never had this issue with the old TP1 i used to use. i would sync it with the same laptop as i am now with the TP2 and when i disconnect it it would resolve wirelessly as normal.

if my issue is the cause of this then i wonder what has changed on the TP2? but in my case, i can soft reset and the phone will still not connect with exchange wirelessly... it has connected a few times for no rhyme or reason but it will not stay locked in. im not Roaming and all my peak and off peak times are set to as items arrive and all days are checked to get mail. for peak days i have the time set to sync starting at 0700 hrs and end at 0500 hours.. so its not syncing for 2 hours overnight.

i can set it to sync every X minutes in the drop down menu and it does that but thats not how exchange works!

also if i had a DNS issue as northern posted then it would seem i would not be able to connect at all even if i did a manual sync..... anyway i have a replacement coming from sprint in a couple of days so ill hold off and report back once i get it. the FIRST thing ill do before doing anything is the exchange service...
