Re: Battery has a water damage detector!

OK so I had a jack@ss (sprint store cs) mark my phone (TP1) as DAMAGE BEYOND REPAIR (WATER DAMAGE) all because he had attitude and didn't like what I told him. When I found out he did that I first called executive service dept. (SPRINT HQ) well they put a note on my account just saying that rep did that. The next day I took the phone to a repair center and had them strip the whole phone (just for doc) well 25 min later the tech came out and said "Now what is wrong with your phone? It says water damage on your account." I told him the story about the SMART rep at the store and he said he note the account that there IS NO DAMAGE ON THE PHONE. Well I also had him print out the paper (just in case and for my protection/hardcopy) I then sent an email with the info the tech gave me to executive service (Her name was Jennifer)....... well to say the least my phone got replaced FREE and that rep doesn't work for sprint anymore. So if the stupid sticker triggers and YOU KNOW FOR A FACT you didn't dunk it like a cookie in milk, take it in and get the tech to tear apart your phone and SHOW YOU where there is WATER DAMAGE. It saved me $120......

Re: Battery has a water damage detector!

My phone, like the pics posted on the prior page, has the indicator with the red lines forming x's....Does that mean it has been triggered already? Had the phone 3 days and used a little windex to put the screen protector on.

Re: Battery has a water damage detector!

No sprint's are a little white with red lines crossing. Like a bunch of X's it will BLEED out and turn a PINKISH/REDISH color. I got a battery for my TP1 that is like that I will take a pic and post it.

EDIT: Here is the BAD BATTERY with Sticker ACTIVATED

And here is the Good Battery with Sticker NOT Activated

Sorry had to take pics with TP2 so they aren't 10MP, lol

Re: Battery has a water damage detector!

These stickers WILL also activate if you leave it in the bathroom while taking a shower. I found this out the hard way with my 6700. It was my first PPC, so hard lessons I guess.

It was a typical winter in the northeast and I always sleep in my room with the windows open so the phone became cold as well. Took it into the bathroom where the shower was already running and the condensation started instantly and triggered EVERYTHING. Too bad I didn't notice till I was done with the shower. Better believe I don't do that anymore.

Re: Battery has a water damage detector!

YW, I just don't know if they get worse than the pic I got up. Probably only because it was not even a drop of water that hit that strip......

Re: Battery has a water damage detector!

Thanks for the pics guys. Looks like HTC was more than serious about not wanting to pay for any water damage . What would be nice would be prefit rubber plugs for the usb and 3.5 jacks that can be pulled out when jacks are used and placed back in when not in use

quoted for truth. happened to my razr. i was having tons of trouble and the sprint rep opened it, said "water damage", and handed it back to me. she wouldn't even look at it. only thing i could think is the shower steam

Re: Battery has a water damage detector!

I have been had multiple times when it comes to the water indicators on my htc devices. I've even considered taking them off when I get the phone and keeping them in a bag or something to make sure they don't get activated by accident. Luckily the indicator on this phone isn't right beside the USB port like it was on my diamond. I always was surprised when i had to do a soft reset and noticed that the water indicator had been activated lol. Oh well I wish I had a quick fix for this but I don't

Re: Battery has a water damage detector!

i had a tech take apart my phone when it was bricked and show me a short on the circuit board and say " this means the phone got wet " I pointed out the sticker that did not indicated water ever touched the phone and he still said it got wet. so I went home thought about it and the next morning woke up jamed a screwdriver in the usb port to break the little tab inside then took it to the store in the morning bc i knew he wouldnt be working and they replaced it within 10 minutes. Oh and i asked him how my tv got wet when it burned up and how houses wiring gets wet and short out and start fires. he had no response except that has nothing to do with your phone getting wet.
