Re: Is this the "oil slick"?

So what is it in the LCD that causes this?

Re: Is this the "oil slick"?

we're blaming htc now for being oily ba$tards? j/k

but seriously, i don't know how this happened to your tp1s... never had this problem with the ones ive used. i bet you guys just sat on your phone or rolled over on them in bed... as in damaged the screens from pressure.

edit: have to think there's a reason why people arent having this prob straight out of the box...........

and exil3d the stuck pixel issue isnt 1 out of 3... it's 1 out of 4.5 if it's showing up in the camera screen, but not in a perfectly pitch black wallpaper, then it's obviously not a stuck pixel. btw, notice that only verizon touch pro2 users checked off that they have blatant stuck pixel probs (as in visible during regular use)? then the next category is dominated by verizon also... some sprint, but they have moguls and touches listed as their phones, so i dunno if they didnt update their info or voted without having the phone... anyway, maybe verizon has the biggest problem?? interesting that only verizon users have the worst end of the stick because this site mostly has sprint users.

I baby cared my new Pro1 replacem, ent and suddenly I had the oily slick. I was so angry! Specially angry after I was told by the Sprint CS agent that it was my fault! CAn you believe that!? My fault for a cheap screen? I truly think HTC went super cheap on the quality of the Pro2 screen/ Like it or not.. its a FACT! 1 out of 3 Pro has stuck or dead pixelsa. Now they are popping up oily effects! Whats next? The dread3ed white spots like the Mogul?
You are a funny guy...not worth my time to argue with you..carry one

Re: Is this the "oil slick"?

I had the issue for about a day after I applied the Ghost Armour kit. The documentation mentioned there could be some anomalies that would disappear after 24-48 hours. Happy to say it's gone. But without any type of screen protectors, I never noticed that on my TP2 or TP.

I can't speak for anyone else but I have had 4 tp1's and every last one of them had the oil issue, and it came out of no where. I didn't drop the phone, I didn't sit on the phone, I didn't do anything to would cause that issue. I never happened to my moguls or my apache's but to every single one of my tp1's?

FLAMESUIT ON

Can't believe I am saying this but I have to agree with exiled and say that these screens are somewhat cheap as far as the oil issue goes. I mean come one, the issue was very common with the tp1. I have actually stopped random sprint customers with tp1's and ask them if they ever had the issue and they would say yes. Now as far as dead pixels, I mean one or two is probably acceptable for the most part but considering the tp1 has 4 times the pixels as a mogul and a tp2 has 5 times the pixels as a mogul or any 320 x 240 device I would think that there would be more of a chance of having atleast 1 dead pixel in these higher resolution phones.

i've had a few as well and also a diamond... no issue. only issue i've seen is the yellow screen which looks like someone peed on it.

regarding the rainbow effect, it is weird that all of mine were fine but all of yours weren't. perhaps it is the way people are using the touchscreen? maybe you've been doing something that causes it? i'm not trying to point fingers, but it's worth investigating... do you press pretty hard on your screen? i hardly tap my screen when i use these phones...
