Re: Sprint 'MIGHT' match Verizon's $199 Price
Sh*t. I bought the thing two weeks ago for the 2 year renewal price of $350 after rebate. I then called back retentions and asked for the price match, but the best I could do was 1 month free service and pick 3 landlines. Now they're price matching Verizon's price? WTF. If I see a lot of people getting the price match then this phone is going straight back.
I was considering swinging my wife over from Verizon too. I'll put that plan on hold until we see how much weight this price match holds. |

Yea, it's all about keeping your cool and just keep trying until you get the right person on the phone that is willing to listen and negotiate with you....like I said, i had to call 3 different times (3 different times of the day) and the third rep was who offered me the deal...
Also, i haven't sold my TP1 yet, and as soon as I do, i would have gotten the phone for practically nothing... I'm trying to sell it for at least $200... |

What exactly did you ask them to do first? Did you ask for them to give you the discount or did you threaten to leave?

Re: Sprint 'MIGHT' match Verizon's $199 Price
I was honest and upfront, I told them that I wanted the TP2 but i didn't want to pay what they were asking for it. I even offered to send my TP1 back and pay the difference, of course they all laughed at that....I reminded them that my contract expired last month and verizon has the same phone for $199...the 1st rep basically laughed at me, so that's why i just kept trying until I got to the 3rd rep who offered me the deal...
I think one of the reasons it was fairly easy for me was because i currently wasn't under contract, so me mentioning verizon hinted that i could leave at any time and the rep knew that...I'm not sure everyone would have the same success story....if you do call, i would recommend speaking to retentions and not telesales! |

Re: Sprint 'MIGHT' match Verizon's $199 Price
Here's my story:
I ordered my TP2 on Sept 8. Then after it came in, I had the pixel issue. So I called and told em about it. They sent me a second one. That was about a week ago. When the 2nd one came in, it had more dead pixels in the middle of the screen then my original. So, tonight I called up sprint to complain. I called tech support first, and when the guy said they couldn't do anything, I simply asked for retentions. Very nicely and polietly(sp?). When I got to retentions, I told them the absolute truth. I'm on my 2nd TP2 and its worst than the first. So I want to send the 2nd one back. While she was reviewing everything, I straight up asked her about price matching Verizon. I told her it was the same phone, and they had it for 199 with instant rebate while sprint had theirs for 350 after mail in rebate. So, after reviewing my account, she said she could give me a 50 dollar credit, and if I would send in my original touch pro 1, they would give me a 75 dollar credit. Which would be like getting 125 off the phone. I explained that her math didn not work since i paid 300 out of pocket for the TP1. Anyways, after another 10 min of us discussing sending phones back, she put me on hold to talk with her manager. When she came back she offered me another 50 off the phone and the free pick 5 plan. I accepted. So, right now, they are sending me a return kit so I can send back the 2nd phone they sent me. They are sending a 3rd TP2. If its ok, I'll then send back the original Tp2. If the 3rd one is ok, I'll send in the $100 rebate. So right now I've paid 450 for the phone. THey have credited me $100, which brings the phone to 350. Then I'll send in the rebate which will bring the phone to 250. Add on the Pick 5 which is 5 per line, I'm getting 15 dollars a month credit in essence. Don't know if I'll benefit that much from that. I think I came out pretty good. I wasn't trying to screw them over. I wasn't being a Azzhole. I just stated my case, and told them how it was. I did bring up their competitor. They listened very well. |

Re: Sprint 'MIGHT' match Verizon's $199 Price
Well I am still in limbo as my contract is up and despite two calls to retentions they do not match and worse they want me on a high-priced data plan. I am truely about ready to go to Verizon but my current plan is cheap so I am in no hurry. I think I'll wait them out. But what is the downside of Verizon? They offer me $70 for two people for 700 minutes plus data for $30 and then a 15% discount due to my University affiliation. I'll pay $85/month. Sprint only offers me a $129 1500 minute family plan (I use 400 min a month....).
What are you getting for plans in these negotiations?
