I see. I'm actually not sure what the MaxCMCon key does. As far as I know, the "Error 67" is usually the fault of not clearing the "Extension" key, however it appears not to be the case this time. I will try totally deleting it and see if it helps...

EDIT: It didn't help.

No I didn't try that, but thank you for it. When I muck around with services, I look around for a services manager, the same way desktop windows does it. I don't usually think of being able to control them via the registry.

It works!! that registry edit seems to stop CM_guardian in its tracks- my edit to forcecellconnection now sticks through a soft reset!
I posted my cludgy solution in the tweaks thread even though I still occasionally recieve the "Error 67" (Incorrect username/password) error which I can get around by initiating a data connection before clicking 'Connect' in Internet Sharing.

Umm.. The solution I posted 4 days ago works too? I'm confused. Did you not try it? Did you try it and have it fail to work?

I also covered the error 67 error in the same post..

For whatever reason I did not try your method- I didn't want to install task manager program- does that change to "manual" have to be redone after a soft reset?

The program is freeware and requires no installation - It's a simple EXE that you can run directly from File Explorer. As with the desktop version of Windows, once you set a service to manual, it stays on manual until you change it.
